Interview Experience

Timeline

Our interview was November 30th in Tbilisi Georgia. When we arrived at the consulate there was NOONE else there! We entered a small building where they screened my purse and all our documents and of course us too. Then we were asked to leave that building and walk down a sidewalk to another building. When we got in there there was one other guy sitting in the lounge waiting. He was called up within minutes to a window to show all of his documents. We were then called up to that window to present all of our documents. Then we were asked to have a seat and wait for the interviewer to call us back up. We sat and looked through all of our picture albums and recalled all of the fun experiences we have shared over the past 2 years. I had my head resting on his shoulder (snuggled up) and I could see the interviewer keep walking by peeking at us behind the windows. I think this showed him that we truely had a connection too.

Then we were called up to a different window after about 15-20 minutes. There was a nice gentleman there who held up our applications and asked us if we were the ones who filled them out and signed them to which we said yes sir! He then had us swear that everything was true and accurate. Next he asked us how we met and we said on facebook playing games. He then asked how many times I had visited Tbilisi and I said twice plus we met once in Istanbul for our 10 day honeymoon (he got a big smile). Then he asked if it was both of our first marriages and we both said yes sir! Next he asked what I do for a living and how much I make per year. He then glanced down at our photo album and asked if we would like to share some pictures with him. I opened the scrapbook and showed him 2 pages of honeymoon pics and then he asked to see wedding pics so I flipped to those and showed 2 pages of them. He again got a big huge smile on his face and commented on how beautiful our wedding was. He said ok ok ok you have been approved and will have your documents by DHL within 10days. At this point I worried and told him that I was told by the Tbilisi consulate earlier that we would have it in 2-3 days and were scheduled to fly out on that sunday. He said that as long as we hadnt committed any crimes since our last background check were ran that we could very well have our stuff friday or saturday. We kindly thanked him for all of his help and wished him a good afternoon. Next we had to go to the DHL desk where we did NOT give them an address but rather a phone number to call when they had the package so we could come pick it up at the DHL office. We left and celebrated with friends and family that evening. Then on Friday afternoon we received a call that our documents were ready for pickup! I laughed cried and screamed all at the same time!!! SO exciting!

Sunday at 4am we departed for America and all was smooth until we landed at JFK. Our baggage did not arrive so we had to file claims with turkish airlines on them. Then we went to the passport control area where we were asked to show his magical orange envelope. They opened it and began questioning us on our relationship and personal info. THey honestly scrutinized everything more that the interviewer did which was suprising to me. Then we went to a small room where our documents were taken and waited about 45min. Then he was called up to do fingerprints and some questioning. They were all EXTREMELY RUDE!!! But we got through it and went on our way. By the time we got through customs where they ripped everything out of all of our carryon luggage and wasted 1hour of our time we had missed our plane to Ohio. We went and got rebooked on a later flight after much fighting. Landed at home at around midnight and again filed another claim on our baggage at American Airlines. First night as home together was such an awesome feeling! So glad all of this is done and overwith! Now to spend the rest of our lives together!!!
