Hi VJ's friends,

I was reading through the forums and I got myself so confused and stressed out now. :(

I am the fiancee, and I am still a full time student in my home country. I should be finishing up my degree at the end of January 2012, and according to our timeline we should be getting our NOA2 sometime in February 2012. Will it be a problem for the interview that I am not employed? I just read someone got denied because of such reason and I got scared now. If I show that I have enough savings on my personal account- will that be sufficient evidence that I won't be considered a public charge?

Please help out!

Thanks a lot!

As the Benificiary, your bank accounts mean nothing. The Petitioners Income and Assets Count Only.

Though it's a unsaid exception to the Rule. Having a Degree will help but thats for a Consulate to decide. ( they may consider what your income could be with your education) So, the question is: Does your Income Count. NO

Phew, thanks! I must say it is a valid point though- I would be abandoning my job if I had one anyways.

I guess I read to many threads on this topic and got myself confused. :).So all it matters is the petitioner's income, right?

I have already spoken with few people about possible job opportunity once I get to USA, so will that be helpful to say at the interview?

Thanks a lot for your help! I appreciate it a lot!!

Right, they usually only care about the petitioner's income/assets, since that is the person filing the affidavit of support.

Remember also you won't be able to work until after you arrive in the US, marry, file AOS and then wait 2-3 months for your employment authorisation.
