I'm not looking for cynical remarks etc. Yes, I do plan to visit, and stay temporarily if necessary. Yet, I understand that as a sponsoring party I'd need to show financial support as well, don't I?

Well, are you ready to get married? If so, you can visit him, get engaged, and then file for a K-1 visa. In about 6-8 months, he would come here, you guys would get married, and he'd file for adjustment of status. Alternately, you could go there, marry him, and file for a CR-1 visa and he could come here in about the same time frame, entering as a permanent resident.

If you aren't ready to get married, you don't have a lot of choices. He can apply for a tourist visa, and will probably get denied. If he can afford it, he can attempt to get a student visa and study here while you guys date. Or he can see if he can get a work visa, but that's unlikely unless he is a highly skilled worker in a certain handful of professions.

Yes, I'm ready to marry him.

THANKS A LOT!!!

perhaps a K-1 if you guys still decide you're in love after meeting in person and if you end up being engaged. You can check out the guides on that route. Good luck!

In that case, it's your choice once you meet him in person if you want to get married right then and file for the CR-1 or file for the k-1 and marry in the US. Generally, the K-1 is slightly faster to get into America (not by much), but the process to get a green card (and work) is longer and costlier. While the CR-1 may take a month or two longer, your spouse would enter as a permanent resident and could work immediately, no adjustment of status needed.

What about AP?

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”
