We're trying to find my husband's Alien Registration Number, but we're unsure where to look... on the stamped/printed "visa" that they put in his passport, they have a field marked "Annotation" and there's an A followed by 9 numbers. Is this it??

Our Timeline:

April 2003: We "met" online through a mutual friend.

March/April 2004: He visited me in California and we hit it off, but didn't want to do a long-distance relationship.

July 7, 2009: We got back in touch with each other.

April 15, 2010: My previous relationship ended and we decided that he would come visit me again and see where things went.

May 25 2010: We saw each other again for the first time in six years!

June 23, 2010: We decided to try a relationship.

November 8, 2010: We got engaged!

January 3, 2011: I began to assemble the I-129F packet

March 14, 2011: Mailed out the I-129F packet

March 16, 2011: NOA-1

May 31, 2011: NOA-2

June 13, 2011: NVC received our approved I-129F

June 15, 2011: NVC approved the I-129F and sent it to London

July 1, 2011: He mailed the completed Packet 3 in

July 15: His medical exam

July 29: We called the consulate and got his interview date

September 6: His interview - approved!

September 25: He entered the U.S. with his visa

November 18: WE GOT MARRIED!

Yup, that sounds like it. The Alien Number is always shown beginning with an A. It will also be on his Notice of Actions.

We looked at the NOA2 that the USCIS sent us, but there's no A-number on that at all that I could find. We were confused! It just had the case/tracking number, which started with WAC.

On my visa there is a Registration Number which consists of 8 digits but no A. On the entry stamp the CBP officer has written that same number out and put an A in front of it. I am assuming that is my Alien Registration Number.

It should be written in your passport too. I can't remember the page number but it will be on the page where they stamp upon your POE. It starts with an A.

You look ONLY on the NOA2 (petition approval notice) and above the beneficiaries name it will have the A number. Trust NOTHING ELSE. ONLY the NOA2.

We looked at the NOA2 that the USCIS sent us, but there's no A-number on that at all that I could find. We were confused! It just had the case/tracking number, which started with WAC.

That's NOT your NOA2. Your NOA2 looks like this: http://www.visajourney.com/gallery/albums/Immigration/I-129F-NOAs/NOA2.jpg

Do not trust the visa. There is OFTEN typo's on the visas and I-94's. Trust ONLY the NOA2. If you can't find it write "unknown".

I have just checked the piece of paper the CBP officer gavel me and she has added an A and a 0 to the front of the number so it does have 9 digits on there.

Mine took the 0 off the front. Other people have had their numbers completely changed. Last numbers removed or altered. Again, trust ONLY the NOA2 which has the number computer generated. Anywhere else is open the human error.

It should be written in your passport too. I can't remember the page number but it will be on the page where they stamp upon your POE. It starts with an A.

No. Please see responses above.

Thank you, that image of the NOA2 helped. I was looking at the right paper, I just didn't notice that number. :) It's the same as the one that got stamped on his visa, so that's all right then. :D Thanks!

I missed it the first time as well :) SOMETIMES the visas are okay but they can often be wrong. One person I know had one on his NOA2, a different on his I-94, and another different one on the visa.
