Hey

My nervous newbie question of the day - my fiance (the us citizen) is at Medical school, and financially supported by his family and student loans. Both his family and mine are willing and able to support us financially, through this process, and up until I can start working in the US. (I work in the UK/remotely now, but don't earn a lot). Is this going to be satisfactory? Do you think it would better for us to have our families give us the money they are promising, and present it as individual savings? Or list his father as co-sponsor or whatever the term is? We both come from medical families who are genuinely in a position to support us, and i'm thankful for that every day. I just hope it will okay - i dont see anyone else who's fiance is a student.

(btw, We're still putting out initial K1 packet together, should be ready to post at the weekend).

Yes, the USC father (ie your future father-in-law) would need to co-sponsor. No problem with the US embassy in the UK.

You will need to have the parents of the U.S. citizen fill out an affadavit of support I-865. I can't find the directions to do so in connection with the fiance visa on the USCIS website, but my fiance and I had my dad fill out that form and they did ask for the form as well as my dad's taxes at the consulate during the interview.

Hope that helps- good luck!

It's the I-134 for a K1 visa. Actually London just wants a sponsor. If your fiance can't do it, then his dad can be the sole sponsor. Later for AOS your husband will have to do an I-864, as well as his dad as a joint sponsor.
