In the case of my own parents, my dad was a lovely man and he was not religious.

My mother was religious and it fueled her to hate and discriminate against people she thought were offending god.

She also hated anyone in the same family as the transgressors

The sins of the father being visited on the children - even to the xth generation

I think religions are a source of bitterness and hatred towards anyone they see as being outside their club

- and anyone who associates with, or speaks to these people
