little question about bonafide evidence

Hi everyone,

My hubby and I are putting together our AOS package and so far we have some questions:

- We'd like to know if it's okay to print out our pictures together in a letter size sheet(s) or if we have to print them out in photographic paper. We have about 40 to 60 pics together.

- We'd like to know about the location of our marriage. Should we put the name of the city or the name of the county?

- We don't have any property leases or bank accounts in common but we have lived together at my husband's parents house for the last 6 months (even before our wedding). What else can we add to the evidence? We have wedding gifts (some money) from friends and family, lots of pictures and videos, witnesses to our relationship, personal receipts with the same mailing address.

- Do we make personal checks or money orders for the applications?

- We got a copy of our marriage certificate from the registrar office but we only have one. It has the seal of the office and signatures. I understand that the I-485 and the I-130 require proof of marriage, so can we just take a photocopy of this one and include it in the package. Or do we have to include two (2) certified copies of the wedding certicate?

That's it for the moment

Thank you in advance for your help

That's way too many photos. A few snapshots is plenty.

Follow the form instructions regarding certified copies and photocopies. FWIW: You will need a few certified copies of your marriage certificate for various things, immigration and otherwise.

Hello :)

Firstly I would like to start by saying that although some people do send in supporting evidence with their AOS application. There is absolutely no USCIS requirement that you do send in any supporting evidence. (Unless with your particular case you have been advised to do differently). If you are set an AOS interview, it is then that you will be required to bring all supporting evidence.

If you do decide to send in supporting evidence I would agree with the previous poster, that is way too many pictures. Send in maybe 5 at most. When I sent in pictures with my K1 package I sent "normal" sized photographs on photographic paper. On the back I noted the date, place and who was in the photo.

I put the city and state of where I got married.

Me and my husband don't have a lease either. We are going to get a letter from the family member we are renting the apartment from to clarify we live together just in case it is requested. The up side of giving yourself a few more months to collect evidence is that you could open bank accounts, show letters from work proving spouse is next of kin at work, on life insurance, on 41K plan, vacations taken together etc. Although showing intermingling of finances is a big one, I don't know your relationship so I do not wish to impose but could you perhaps open a joint account, or add the other person on to the account? Again this is the up side to not sending in evidence straight away, it reduces the stress of having to "come up with the goods" straight away.

You can do either. I did a cashier's check. Either way it has to be one check, including biometrics fee.

Some say they sent photocopied versions of their marriage certificate and they were fine. Whilst other's got RFE's for not sending in a certified copy. I sent in a certified copy. I'm not sure if you need two copies as I didn't file i-130. So if in doubt and you don't find the answer to this question on here then I would send two just to be sure.

I am not an expert by any means but I hope this helps!

Thank you for your messages!!!

We just added each other to our bank accounts and we're gonna get a letter or affidavit from my parents in law so they can state that we lived together in their house. I think we're gonna get another certified copy of our m.certificate, we play safe! Alright, I'm off to printing my photos.
