Hey there,

New on the boards - i'm from London, UK although currently in New Orleans with my American fiancé (previously boyfriend, of 3 years), who proposed 2 weeks ago. We're just putting together our K1 application and evidence, and my only concern is that although born Catherine, all friends and family know me by Kate or Katie. So, Catherine is on my passport and bank statements, but all emails/postcards/letters between me and fiancé are addressed either 'kate' or 'katie' (i changed to kate a few years ago when i started a new job and there was already a katie, and my fiancé uses both).

Has anyone else had a similar worry? I have noted that I go by Kate or Katie on the 'any other names used' section of G325A and boyfriend mentioned it in his statement about how we met. I just worry that this will cause a request for further evidence, and if so, what kind of thing I could provide - a notarize statement from my parents maybe, saying that they named me Catherine but always called me Katie?

This process makes you so paranoid it's crazy!

Good luck to everyone.

Katie/Kate/Catherine....

You're overthinking the process, that's all.

You list your official name. And other names used means other official names used, like if you were married and changed names for that.

Nicknames are not included in any of this.

Use your official name only.

Phil (Lockport, near Chicago) and Alla (Lobnya, near Moscow)

As of Dec 7, 2009, now Zero miles apart (literally)!

I already went through this, my nick name and name are very different things in my life, no one uses my name, only my nick name. I had no issues what so ever in the process, was not even questioned about it.

Right on the money. It can be funny at times, when you think about it. What if your nickname was tinkerbell or sweetiepoo? Just go with what baron said.
