I bought her cheap.

At the supermarket, tonight. However, I kidnapped the bag and have already eaten most of the cheaps, si man.

I asked my husband to pick up some stuff on his way home from work on Thursday, for my son's gingerbread house project at school. He gets off of work @ 7:30am, so he swung by the supermarket & bought the stuff and dropped it off at the school for me (yes, he's an awesome dad/husband, I know :luv: ). Anywhoo, one of the things I asked for him to get was Nestle Tollhouse chocolate chips. He even repeated it, "chocolate cheaps, ya, ok." Well, I called and asked him if he found everything OK, and he said "I no find Nestle but I get Chips A Hoy." I soon realized instead of buying a bag of chocolate chips, he bought chocolate chip cookies. When I told him he got the wrong thing, he told me I wasn't "especific" enough & that I should have told him to get "chocochips" not "chocolate cheaps." He went back to the store, got the chocochips & gave me the chocolate cheaps. :star:

I love Espanglish. (I speak Spanish but we still get things confused sometimes).

Especifically, this is common, ja man. I recently brought home some chocolate-cheap cookies, and Mrs. T-B. asked, "Deedn't you see the Cheap o'Joy that we have?" (Chips Ahoy, si man.)

Meeting online over 4 years ago just on My-Space. I feel in love with Mav. Never heard of immigration before. I proposed and and started to look things up. Not a Simple Plane flight.

I only heard of a Passport on 007 Movies. So I bought one.. Next a $1,500.00 Plane Fee. Next transportation. This Fee and that Fee. Then Pay for this and for that. And they can say No unless you have the Money.

A woman is FREE in the US and might even come with a Coupon. Buy one night get the next one Free. That is not me.

I guess what I mean is: Did you ever realize all this ####### to Immigration? Its like buying a person. You don't own that person but you love them and will do anything.

On Average: $8,000.00 from start to finish with Peitions with no problems.

So, Vote: Did you buy Love. I'm doing it. Guilty but thats the Law.

I understand what you mean. But hey. Congrats. At least the investment makes you happy. ♥

One of my friends asked me how immigration works. So I gave her a run-down. She said, "Oh, so you bought a husband." LOL we both laughed. But I don't think of it that way. As for the other comments/variables mentioned:

When I first mentioned the online relationship to my friends and that I was planning to go meet him I got all the standard answers, including "I'm sure you can find a nice man in your community for companionship" and "I'm sure you enjoy the attention but I would be remiss if I didn't warn you not to trust foreign men."

I have never regretted not listening to them. My friends are probably still waiting on the sidelines to say, "I told you so." but I would not trade my hubby, this adventure, the mingling of our cultures, the new experiences, the trips to his country, our love for each other, and the way we get along so well for my friends idea of a "safe" relationship.

No, you can't buy what is given to you. However, that doesn't mean that this very generous gift won't have associated maintenance costs.

My husband and I were born the same year and have already spent nearly 1/3 of our lives together. It sucks that the immigration related costs never seem to end, but what's that money compared to our relationship? Nothing and worth every penny. I'd pay it a thousand times over if I had to and he would do the same for me without a second thought.

I am the beneficiary, but I'm sure my husband doesn't feel like he bought me. WE both paid for the processing of paperwork that made it legal for me to live in this country. That's it, that's all. Immigration paperwork isn't "buying your spouse" ... in my mind, anyway.

I have not once felt like my fiance bought me or that I bought him. We are both paying for fees, and we do everything with much consideration and consultation. We both look at the monetary cost as just a necessity. To be honest, the emotional and mental costs are so much more than monetary.
