During my interview they did not ask the BC and passport of my fiance but better tho you have all the documents in you so you don't get the 221g. I just get done with my interview last November 25,2011 the only thing they get was the I-134 Affidavit of Support,1099 if he is self-emplyed or W-2, 2010 Tax Return, He make letter too stating on his work income, divorce paper then pictures. This is what I remember. Augie

I just had my Citizenship interview last week, and I was only asked for my GreenCard and Driver's License... nothing about my husband. The officer looked at some of the tax, banking, utility bills, etc. that I brought for proof of ongoing relationship (I was applying after 3 years based on marriage). She didn't ask for anything else, but I think every interview is different depending on who is conducting it. If you have his passport, it shows his place of birth - if it shows he was born in the USA, that should be enough. (I had the original passport and a copy in case they wanted to keep a copy.) If you have a copy of his birth certificate, (maybe from a previous application/petition?) I would bring it along, too.

Good luck with your interview!

Annie

You should be just fine!

Purpose of that birth certificate is to prove to your IO, if demanded, that your spouse is a US citizen, and can also be your spouses US passport book, or a certificate of naturalization. But they already have all that stuff, twice as a matter of fact for the AOS and ROC stages. Guess they are too damn lazy to look it up, but one of the hazards for applying for that three year marriage privilege. Its like your citizenship interview is the first time you ever showed up to a USCIS office.

But you have to be patient and nice, wife said she saw her file, was over three inches thick, and for her interview, nothing new was presented as the ROC process took as long due to excessive delays, we had to update all of our evidence. And with a file that thick, caused additional wonder why they misplaced it twice. But you are dealing with the USCIS and in particular one IO that may have gotten up on the wrong side of the bed. Her IO wanted to see both my birth certificate and US passport, just doing everything in her power to be as mean as dirty as possible. Surprised she didn't want to see my certificate of naturalization to delay the process, don't even have one since I was born here.

Its nice to hear they have some nice IO's, with a reasonable intelligent IO, his passport should be fine.

Yes - a passport will be just fine. If IO asks specifically for the birth cert, then you can mention that YOUR husband lost it....

Ha, after getting involved with all this USCIS stuff, contacted my state for additional copies of my birth certificate, was something like 7 bucks for the first copy and 4 bucks for each additional copy. So sent them a check for 27 bucks for a half a dozen copies. USCIS has most of these copies, hope they have fun playing with them, I sure don't need them anymore.

When I went for my naturalization interview I had all my husband's id but they never asked for any of it. You have the passport and as suggested above you can indicate he lost his birth cert at some point. It's not as if his US passport doesn;t state his place of birth :) Bur perhaps hey're too lazy to read.

Wouldn't even worry about it.
