They apply for a B2 Visitor Visa.

You will find the local information on the Consulate web site.

My girlfriend's mom got a tourist visa. She got some kind of Vietnamese legal document that showed she owned the house and what it was worth, plus her bank statements. Getting the offical house document took several months. She had a letter of sponsorship and letter of invitation from her relative in the USA. She went for the interview and got a blue slip requesting the sponsor's 1040 (tax forms).

After she got those documents from her relative in the US and gave them to the consulate, she got the tourist visa.

Are you certain they asked for the sponsor's 1040? This is contrary to what people in the B2 visitor visa are saying.

I think that "strong ties" does not have to necessary be economical or social status within Vietnam only.

Last month my mother in law also got approved for a tourist visa. They need a copy of the 1040 because its needed in the affadavit of support so that they know she will have some sort funding for her stay in the US.

Which is unenforceable.

And which I am sure they know is unenforceable.

I am 110% certain that they asked for the 1040 forms. I haven't seen the affadavit of support form, so I don't know that it on it. But Dai_TX is probably right in that they wanted to verify the sponsor's income.

Nah. I love her but the guilt trip is best from long distance. It was the when we marry in church thing for awhile. We kept saying we are trying but the Catholic church was making us jump through hoops. After time she started the, "I am going to die an unhappy woman because we are not really married and all." When we finally got the OK and got married she demanded pics and vids right away for proof. We even had to send the signed church document. Now she is saying the same thing about us having kids. She is saying how she will die unhappy if we don't have kids soon. She even has said that we have to have at least two kids and more if one is not a girl.blink.gif

Supposed to go and visit this year at some time for about a month. I was planning on meeting a friend in Thailand for a few days during that time and me and my babe were going to Australia to visit her brothers and their wives for a week. The Mom has nixed the ideas and said that we will be staying in Vietnam the whole time and the friend and family can come to Vietnam to see us.mad.gif

I did mention that I am in my 50's now and should be allowed to do as I want. That went over well.unsure.gif

There is also her wanting me to change jobs and other stuff.whistling.gif

Wow..wow.gif. I am ......speechless...

According to the term, a Dragon Lady is:

n.

  • A powerful or domineering woman.
  • A dangerous and seductive woman; a femme fatale.

A Dragon Lady is a

stereotype of East Asian women as strong, deceitful, domineering or mysterious.[1] The term's origin and usage is Western, not Chinese. Inspired by the characters played by actress Anna May Wong,[2]

Based on your story, I would say," I am at your side,"
