All this about US cars doing 45 to a gallon in a few years is junk

I have the smallest car in town apart from my wife's

Its a V6 3.5 litre

Most days it seems dark as there are 9 foot high trucks each side of me at the lights

10 mpg is considered good

So yes the only way to hold gas prices is to get more oil

When I was a kid, any politician who offered 2 pennies off a packet of cigs and 1 penny off beer would be elected in a landslide

That's as far as the electorate think.

It makes sense that O would go for it but why not ANWAR this time ? Next time he finishes anyway

Perhaps he will next year in order to sway the rightish centerists.

It will drop oil prices, create jobs and make him look more right wing. Shoot all the alaska wildlife to feed inner city Chicago for free. His party will vote for him anyway. Yes why not

ANWR is already on Obama's list of things to do. Next election and it should be a go. There's nothing up there...birds during the summer and Caribou, Polar Bear, and Brown Bear (Grizzly), Fox, ground squirles, some other critters along with some Musk Ox. but oil production up there has zero affect on the wild life. The rules in regards to wild life up there are super strict and the oil companies enforce those rules down the the Tee. But ya, look to see ANWR being opened up during Obama's next four years in office.
