Hi all

Just a little update and question ......Last week my husband emailed the embassy in Dakar, Senegal about the status of our case which has been in AP a little over 4 months now ... They responded that they are still awaiting a response from Washington ....... as of November 22, I was told that our case was still at the embassy in Dakar but this last email lead me to understand that our file could now be under review in the states or perhaps awaiting some type of approval ........ I'm not sure ........ perhaps we are going through name checks ... would any of you know what this could mean or what the time frame is at this point ... I've heard it is about 1 to 3 months additional if it is under review here, but I'm not an expert ... like the rest of you I am just grasping at bits and pieces to put together some sort of idea of where we are at ...

My heart goes out to you all who are going through the same thing ... I especially check frequently to know the status of EABBAS here on VJ who are going through a lengthy AP, and wanted to say what an inspiration your postings have been ..... just to let you know I will keep you in my prayers ..... there will eventually be an outcome to all this waiting .... God bless and keep the faith

We are in the same situation as you. My husband has been on AP since August of this year.

Your case is still at the embassy. They are doing name check. May be their was a hit while doing name check. So they have asked for clearance from Washington D.C. They are waiting for Security Advisory Opinion from Washington. Unfortunately there is no set time limit for this kind of clearances. It also depends on which specific SOA they have asked for from Washington, some of them are cleared within 30 days while some take months to clear.

I understand your pain. Everyday I keep thinking we will get good news today, but the big news is yet to come.

I just came across your post!!!! Thank you so much for thinking of us.. idk what to do with this ap actually... some days im strong... other days it takes hold of my heart and completely breaks me. I know we haven't waited so long for this to end... as its almost at the 6 month mark there are still those waiting longer.

The procedure for background checks is needed and understandable. The reasons it takes so long and is so slow and lengthy and no information as to where we are in the process is not understandable and that's where it gets you. My husband and i have always said the checks dont bother us its the lack of transparancy that does. At some point enough is enough... if they need to clear our names and its received a hit thats fine clear it but why does it take so long and why do we always get your case is pending ap thats all we see...no there are no updates... etc etc...

This can't last forever... there will be an end to this... it may be after many nights of crying myself to sleep.... or breaking down at work when someone asks me if my husband is home yet.... or maybe it will end right before christmas or maybe after the new year... but it will come to an end and Inshallah our happily ever after WILL COME!!!! FOR ALL OF US!!!!!!

Stand strong in your faith, stand strong in the love you have for eachother, stand strong in the knowledge that one day this will end......

Sowfamily,

At least they told you that they were waiting for a response from Washington. The embassy in Pakistan will not give me any information other then our case is in AP. Eabbas manages to get a little information from DOS. I can't get any.

Being in the dark about what's happening with our case is what bothers me the most. I feel sorry for all of us going through this and I pray it will be over soon.

Eabbas is inspiration for all of us. My life has been taken over by AP. One of the VJ members had made a comment about AP saying that it takes a very strong heart and extreme patience to endure AP. I am finding that I do not have such a strong heart and some days I feel like I am at the end of my rope ready to break down. Visa Journey member posts especially the posts from Eabbas helps a me a lot to keep going.

First off, i hope and pray that all of us will get out of this stressful AP as soon as possible.

i just want to ask if every single case requires Washington DC name checks or do they only send it there in case there was a name hit ??

Not every case check gets sent to Washington it all depends on the checks the CO feels is necessary

updating again .... I usually check here to see what happens with EABBAS just to keep my perspective on this AP process ... next week on the 28th it will have been 7 months in AP and 16 months since we received or NOA1 ... my husband and I have been apart for 19 months .... Our case went very smoothly until we hit the consulate stage and AP .... I call the DOS once weekly and get the same response that our case is still pending AP ... at times I fear stagnation or evasion on the part part of the system in administrative processing ... I keep thinking about the humungous file I submitted for my husbands interview and can't help but pity the poor agent who would have to go through all my paperwork ... hahaha .... but for all I know they are not even looking at the file but merely doing some other type of security check ... in actuality it is mere procedure ... nothing bad or good ...

This AP reminds me of when I'm in a hurry to pay for my goods at the grocery store ... I will try to avoid the lines where people are holding any coupons or WIC voutures or if the salesperson is in training because the line moves a lot slower .... but you know, you have to get in line at some point and eventually we all get our turn .... and AP is like having all 3 of these factors tied together ... but it does eventually provide us with our turn .......... it's just a long and sloowwwwwwwwwwww line we happen to be in ... but ..... I'm finding that patience is being learned in this line .... loyalty is being challenged and stregthened thereby .... and true love is proving itself to be the most awesome reflection of God's endearing affection and faithlfulness towards us ... in spite of the miles, my husband and I grow more intimately entwined day by day ... our connection seems to solidify in this adversity and most importantly our relationship and love of God grows deeper still because of the awareness of His presence and companionship that has been with us long before we were ever aware of it ... He is our best and dearest friend and a bright light in this dark night .... He has heard every word we uttered in prayer and is with us constantly and in His time all things will come to pass for our good ...... I am absolutely convinced of this ... so don't lose hope friends.

I hope you can all find this resource to be your strength and may you know of His companionship in these lonely AP hours
