Hello!

I just learned Nov. 25 that my K1 Visa Petition was approved for my Fiance (in the Phils) and I. Now my paperwork is in route to NH for processing (2-4 wks) then will be mailed to Manila. My question is what is average time from when Manila recieves my documents until visa approval, given there are no problems ? Also, I have a friend who said he only had one week to fly his wife and child to the U.S. after approval, is this normal? Thanks for any info anyone might have on this. Im just trying to get a good guess as to when to purchase airline tickets. Thanks Again, Clint

After approval, wait around 1-2 weeks to get the MLA case number, then schedule for the medical. Ideally have to wait another week before you schedule an interview (I heard no more available spot for December) because there may be problems on the medical. Sometimes you will be required to go through psychiatric evaluation. After the interview, wait around 3days to even 3 weeks for the visa to arrive. Then you still have to attend CFO seminar then book a flight out of the Philippines.

Even if there's no problem, it's still impossible to do it all in a week after approval alone. There' other still process involved after the approval. maybe your friend meant something else...or they're kinda lucky but's it's very unlikely. Or his partner already got the visa before to flew there.

Thanks for your help, but I think I mis-worded my original post. I ment to say that my friend only had one week after his fiance recieved her visa to fly her here, is that normal?

Well that's more realistic. Yes that's true especially if everything is all set before he came here. Packing, shopping, seminar, etc.

There may be some misunderstanding with your friend because the visa after issuance is good for 6 months.

Congrats on getting your NOA2. How about taking a moment to complete your timeline? Much appreciated!

The K-1 visa is good for a maximum of 6 months according to the USEM website.

http://manila.usemba...v/wwwh3204.html (near the bottom)

How long it takes in Manila depends on how quickly documents are gathered, medical is completed and the interview is scheduled. I have read it takes about 2 months but I have also read of many on here getting things done very quickly and completing the interview in much less than two months. Once you get the MNL # (calling NVC) you can pay the fee through BPI, get the medical after that, and hopefully get an interview date scheduled not too far out. And for sure don't forget the CFO

Im just trying to get a good guess as to when to purchase airline tickets.

Purchase airline tickets after the visa is in hand.

Here's how to speed things up:

> Get your MNL case number form the National Visa center (NVC). Start calling the NVC now. Call them every day until they give you your MNL case number. Talk to a human at NVC...don't use their automated system.

> After you get your MNL case number, pre-register for the medical on St. Lukes website. Pre-registering saves time on the day of the medical. St. Lukes has a first-come first-served policy, so there is no need to make an appointment. Go get the medical done as soon as you can.

> Also after you get your MNL case number, pay the visa fee at BPI. The following business day, make an Embassy interview appointment online.

> Don't waste valuable time waiting for the Embassy to send the beneficiary an interview eligibility letter. You don't need it. If you want to read it, you can read it here.

> After the Embassy interview, you will have the visa in your hands in anywhere from a few days to a couple of weeks. If for some reason the Embassy puts your case into administrative review, it could take much longer to receive your visa.

Now get rolling so you can have her on a flight before the end of January! Good luck!!! :star:
