OK, well, it isn't hard to find supporting information. States are divided up into 2 categories: Donor States and Beneficiary States.

According to the Federal Tax Foundation, from 1981-2005, Calif is usually in the top ten "Donor" states, meaning it pays the Feds more tax monies that it receives back. Mississippi is the Leech.

So what say you now?

"We appreciate California donating to the US but we are sad to say that we are cutting you out of the union and a giant wall will be built around your new country. We wish you the best of luck and after next year 30 day US visitor visa's will be available to a limited amount of select Californians in our new California - US visa lottery. Good luck, goodbye, and von voyage."

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

Unlikely response from a RUBber, but there is an old saying which states, "As goes California, so goes the nation." CA, TX, FL, NY are the great economic engines of the US. So just because you don;t like the state of affairs in a certain state, doesn't mean that you "cut off your nose to spite your face." Perhaps consider sending Putin a political get well card. From all reports, he's getting battered and bruised by his own folks (and that is just referring to his ego taking a beating):whistle:

I'm confident that the US will survive without California, it's illegals, Gov. Jerry Brown, Nancy Pelosi and everything else that comes with that state. California will make a killing exporting produce and wine to the US and the US will just have to learn to live without California and all it brings.

Getting California out of the US has been a long time dream of mine and I hope to live long enough to see that dream come true. If it does I know my life will have been worth living. :)

Wow, glad there isn't an extreme opinion here. Tell ya what, You left me speechless and wimpering in defeat. Feel good?

I'm going to tag team, and hand it off to the Spooky Turtle to take it from here. Surely, he will have a come back much sharper than mine.

Good luck with that.

ps, what is the best state you like, and what makes them so perfect?

Peace.

Spooky is a Pats fan so I'm guessing he's from somewhere in New England, meaning he doesn't have a horse in this race.

The state of Euphoria ftw. :)

Getting California out of the US has been a long time dream of mine
Jump up & down on the San Andreas Fault hard enough, and things could work out, si man. :)

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

I haven't been to all 50 states. Scenery wise I have to go with Washington, Oregon, and from what Iv'e seen in photo's and movies...Northern California coast down to the Big Sur area. Politics wise I like it here in Alaska but not weather wise although this is most likely where I'l retire. If I had a choice to live anywhere that Iv'e been to, I have to go with Roseburg, Oregon area ..from I-5 to the coast. Mild winters, warm but not overly hot summers, nice tree's, mountains, fishing, and weather along with decent folk.

What have the liberals wrought? I am always amused to see the indignance of liberals when people use what they demanded.

The only thing I see unusual about Kip is that he hangs around Alaska in the winter. A lot of our guys are already "gone south" and more will be when the snow piles up (no snow yet, we are hoping it is a global warming trend and not just a fluke...you should too, it keeps union construction workers employed)

With direct deposit unemployment benefits (every Thursday like clockwork) and EBT cards, many of the men jump on their motorcycles and tour the south for the winter, collecting their $450 per week unemployment and food stamps! Living off that and the savings from working 70-75 hours per week in summer, 30-35 hours of it at 1-1/2 times normal pay. They know when to be back for their regular job.

The benefits pay them more than they could possibly make in some off season job at Lowe's or some other work. Does any liberal expect someone to get out of bed, shovel snow, drive in horrible weather just to make LESS money than he can sitting on the beach?

Good news! Our liberal Dem governor recently signed legislation requiring seasonal layoffs with return to work dates to do a "job search" after 10 weeks.

Better news? They can meet the requirements of the job search by applying for jobs online and in email (as most jobs now require so they can discriminate by race, color, creed, sex, and national origin without you having a way to prove it. Credit checks do most of the racist work for them, black people naming their children "Latesha" and "Andre", and drug tests do the rest)

So it amounts to them having to take a couple hours off the beach, go to a local library, use a public access computer and log in to the Websites for "7 Days" and "Burlington Free Press". Send a few emails with attached resumes to jobs they do not qualify for, carpenters can apply for IT project managers, etc., and back to the beach! Keep everything in their email "sent" folder in case they are audited (not likely) and file their weekly claim online. Damn, that has to piss them off and spoil their winter! But not until they have been laid off for 10 weeks! So maybe the last 2-3 weeks they have to do job searches online. Holy #######! THAT will get those bums in line!

I have been to all but 2, Washington and Oregon (unless you use Obama's count and then there are 10 more out there somewhere)

I did not choose Vermont by mistake or default. But I did choose it without seeing Oregon. A more beautiful place to go trout fishing that Vermont would probably hurt my eyes. Especially since Alla likes to go with me and sunbathe naked so I could not possibly care if I actually catch any fish. Kip, what do you think about a hot chick in Hip Waders and nothing else but a fly rod?

If I were more wealthy my 2nd choice would be Arizona and I would have a place in Flagstaff and a place in the Pheonix area.

Six months is the sweet spot for the fact it gives me plenty of money to live on for the rest of the year, and allows me to collect unemployment if the work runs out.

If you're paid enough to live on for the rest of the year.... why do you take unemployment?

If it was fraud then it would be illegal. Seeing how it's not illegal then it's not fraud is it now?

It's being offered and no I'm not passing up on that money. It's legal and according the to law I'm entitled to it.

Years back I read a piece in National Geographic on a train tour in the fall of the New England states... It started up in Maine and cut across towards the Appalachians when it hit up state New York and then made it's way towards West Virginia and over to Virginia. Tree's in the fall with all the colors and old barns from way back. It's stuck in my head ever since.
