Hi Everyone,

We are finally leaving for the states on December 27th (he had to be in by December 29th). I was just wondering what he (we) should expect at POE in San Francisco? Will it be like another interview, if so what do they generally ask? Do we need any other documents, besides the envelope which came back to us in the mail that we didn't open?

Also, after we get into California, how long does it take for him to get his SSN? Will we need to fill in any forms, or is it automatic?

Anything else we should know.....?

Thank you all so much for being such amazing support throughout this long and difficult process :)

From what others have posted, if the SSN does not arrive with in 3 weeks after arrival, you will need to go to an SSA office and get it.

I just read a recent thread on POE (of course I can't find it now). But what a lot of people here were saying is that it's very easy and they don't ask you many questions due to the fact that you would have recently gone through an interview at the embassy.

However, I see you were issued your visa in June 2011 and you're just going to the US now. Kind of similar to us, we won't be returning to the US until the beginning of February. I'm not sure, but I'm thinking they might ask why we waited that time to come back to the US? Which is easily explained, but that's one of the only questions I could see a CO really having.

Thank you for the reply. I have read the POE reviews for SFO. In regards to the SSN number, What happens with that? Will we have to fill in any paperwork or will it come to us automatically, also how long does it take on average?

Thanks

I'm sure your card takes roughly 2-4 weeks to come in the post after POE.

Here's a good thread on how to quickly obtain your SSN:
