On friday we sent off our AOS/EAD application packet, but then that night I realized that I forgot our marriage certificate! How stupid of me, I can't believe I forgot it! But it's done now, so what can I do? Can I send it in along with my information so that they can add it to my packet, or do I have to wait for the RFE? :(

I couldn't say for sure, but when we were going through K1 I remember reading about someone who also forgot important information in their application and was worried about waiting for an RFE and delay of processing. They sent a follow letter with copies of the important identification info (like another complete package or at least copies of the I130, something to tie the addition to your application) with an explanation letter. They were approved without RFE because they took the chance to do this. I think you could do it if you send a letter explaining this is an addition, and copies of some or all of what you sent in the first time. You might also call the customer service hotline and ask for guidance, although I haven't found them to be very useful- depends who you get. Good luck!

Packet 3 response sent 6 May 11

Wait for the RFE ....It won't slow the process down any if you send it right after you get the RFE. A friend of mine sent her packet in the same time I did. She got an RFE for something simple and sent it in, she got her EAD the same time I got mine.

Christine, look at my timeline, my RFE did not slow things down for long. Have everything ready to go so you can mail your response the same day you receive your RFE or the next day. Good luck.

Thanks Lise (and everyone else who replied!). It's our marriage certificate that we forgot, and we've got it sitting in our folder full of all our important documents, multiple copies of it in fact! So we'll be totally ready for when we get the RFE

Can I send it in along with my information so that they can add it to my packet, or do I have to wait for the RFE?

Yes, you can send it. I'd wait for the RFE, though.

I was in a similar situation, after I sent in the AOS package I realized I forgot some docs for the AP and EAD applications that I sent concurrently. So I waited until I got all 3 NOA1, which stated the MSCxxxxx case numbers and that the cases were transferred to the NBC.

So I made a cover letter where I stated every case #, what cases the docs I was sending were regarding and also included copies of all the NOAs, and then the additional information which I asked them to please match with my petitions.

I just got approval of GC, EAD and AP this week, so they must've matched it, though I was sure they wouldn't and that I'd get an RFE. I didn't, so I am 100% sure they put the additional docs I sent in with my previous application. It's not a guarantee though, but I took a chance and I am so glad I did. GOOD LUCK!
