Health insurance

Hi there,

F-1 student, studying in the US since Jan 2011 and here with an AON international student insurance.

As of late though I find myself a little dissatisfied as of what they offer and am looking for something that may be better suited for my needs (AND still of course follows Dep. of State requirements)

So does any of you international students that have been here longer than I have any recommendations as of student insurances and rates?

I had United Healthcare through Webster University. It was great coverage with reasonable copays however the rates are pretty high per semester. It was around $400 per semester but it really came in handy.

I had Aetna student insurance for around $1,200 a year, which I was very happy with. However, these student insurance plans are usually between a university and the service provides - in other words, you cannot take advantage of them unless you are a student of a particular university who offers that student health insurance plan. If you are not happy with the one your school is offering, I'm afraid your only option would be to look at individual insurance plans, and from experience I can tell you that those are VERY expensive - easily between $300 and $500 a month.
