I was wondering how much signing up to the selective service matters in the filing of my i-485. The paper we got said we had up to thirty days and we signed up on the thirty third day. I know we screwed up but we were so frazzled with planning the wedding and getting ready that it slipped my mind. There was a whole lot of excitement with my fiance's family and thanksgiving too...

Also, do you need any proof regarding the fact that you registered?

The US Goverment does not care about your personal life. If you are withing the ages and required to be Registered then that is the Law. HOWEVER, I don't think 3 days will matter, its if you did'nt register at all that will screw everything up. I think you will be OK.

As far as proof of Registering: Well, I did that 32 years ago and I don't remember them giving me anything, I only knew I Registered.

They sent me a letter when I was about 28 years old stating: The US Military does not need OLD MEN so you are off the Selective Service System. (It was'nt said that way but It meant I met my obligation to my Country)

Funny, they did'nt give you something about enrollment but I don't think they ever gave me anything too.

I would'nt worry about being 3 days late.

Thinking back, I believe they sent a letter about 3 weeks later after I Registered. You may get a letter stating your Registration ?

USCIS should have registered you with Selective Service when your adjustment of status was approved. You authorized them to do this when you signed the I-485. In any case, I've never heard of registering late being an issue.
