Jena (my wife) the Waray Warrior her first winter here. Just be brave I guess. It's mind over matter, if you don't mind the cold, it doesn't matter.

When it gets down to zero wind chill or lower, she goes all Darna on it and makes it warm again.

Darna's powers include flight, super strength, super speed and near-invulnerability.

Welcome :)As for getting used to the cold, I don't know I been here 34 years and still not used to it and I even live in one of warmer states... get yourself a nice warm robe and wear socks.. that's y hope next winter d2 na honey q prang may human heater na me..

 And I was born in US and lived here for 37 years and still not used to the cold!! I don't like the cold at all...and I also suffer from SAD (seasonal affective disorder)in the winter. So I keep oscillating electric heaters in every room and keep sweaters and scarves as my friend  My fiance is from a tropical climate and he also will probably have trouble adjusting to the cold when he moves here.

While I might let most of the house cool down, I keep my bedroom warm with a space heater. Sometimes up to 80 degrees.

Also - invest in good blankets.

Rugs everywhere on the floor, definitely a thick oversized down comforter and flannel sheets on the pillow top, nice slippers from LL Bean or the like, and thermals. I'm getting ready for the wife to arrive here around the 1st if lucky and I'm prepping. Also there is a radiant quartz heater EdenPure heaters that are very easy on the electric bill I'm investigating which is recommended by Bob Vila. Some guys at work are looking into them and I'll see how they do with it before moving forward on this. Best of luck!!

In addition to what have already been advice I will add to get some good moisturizing lotion.

My wife arrive in NYC last winter and the indoor dry air from the heater did a number on her skin - itching. We tried a few different brands and found some that work good for/moisturized her skin & also had a good scent.

You'll get used to the weather soon before you know it. I was originally from Colorado and it is really cold there during winter season (and fall.. and spring). Then I moved here in Indiana and it was worse :) I've gotten used to it nevertheless. In fact, I still use a cooling fan at night :D Try to use portable heater, it will help.

You were never a mistake. You were my realization.

We just came back from PI and it was still hot there, in late Nov. I think the CFO, should make all any Filipino migrating to cold places, go to Manila Ocean Park. Then go in the cold room, then see if they still want to leave PI. Other than that, I remember my first real winter in Oregon, and yea it was cold. You just adjust over time.
