Hi,

I have my interview in a couple of days and wanted to ask about some evidence that I want to include. I got a new job 3 weeks ago in the company my husband works at. He referred me and I got the job which is great. Anyway, the company offers life insurance policies but I didn't have an SSN till recently so my husband couldn't fill one out with me as a beneficiary. When I got my SSN, we both filled out life insurance policies for each other and they are dated 11/28 which is last week. Would it be a red flag that this evidence showed up a few days before my interview? I have other evidence so it's not a big deal to remove them. I just would like to know if they consider it a red flag.

Nope, that's understandable. Now if ALL your documents showing a bonafide relationship were dated a few days before your interview that might be a red flag but IOs understand some things require a social first!

It's fine when you have a legitimate explanation for it, such as you do.

What they don't like to see is all the evidence put together at the last minute. For example opening a joint bank account, getting lease and all that stuff all at the last minute. That's when it looks like it was created just to have evidence.

We actually did open a joint bank account fairly close to the interview because people kept saying you have to have it. But we had lots of other evidence going back to when we first met so it wasn't an issue - they didn't even ask.

yeah... a lot of times you can't do much without a SSnumber, my bank won't allow my husband as joint until he has his social... the apartment complex will use his passport so we can adjust that as soon as he gets here and for now he's listed as Paid On Death for my stock portfolio and my banking accounts. Can't do medical insurance until social gets here either...

Kind of a catch 22 but as long as its explainable its not a big deal and if you do what you can such as putting eachother as paid on death things like that and then change to joint, or beneficiary, or dependent when the social comes in its pretty obvious that your just going thru the correct procedure to add eachother the correct way to each account.
