What is the best airlines to travel between phils. and US?

I have tried korean, delta, and american airlines. Here's my take on things..

Korean airlines- pros, I like the service, in- flight entertainment, and lounge area at the seoul airport. cons, i have a 3 hour trip to get to JFK airport. and i was traveling alone in the past. (boring)

delta- either my luck, or they are frequently delayed.. but at least I don't have a long drive to the airport.

american airlines- better than delta, and service is just ok, not great.

I personally like Cathy Pacific, but they are getting a little pricey at times now. Nice planes, service is great, food good, and the airport in Hong Kong is very easy to get around. They usually use American for connecting flights in the U S. I flew Delta in Sept and what a mistake, will never fly with them again. Worst service I have ever had. Flight attendants on Delta were some of the rudest people I have ever met. All total it was six different planes on the trip with Delta, and it was all the same except for one flight. I guess the saying you get what you pay for is right. It was the cheapest price and now I know why. Also flew Philippine Airlines once and thought they were bad, until the last flight with Delta that is. As much as I hate to say this, if you want the best, stay away from the American airlines.

Any comment about the allowable baggage who's the most lenient?

That's the most common concern of someone leaving from the Philippines.

I agree but I give credits to Delta (compared to Continental) for allowing 2 extra balikbayan boxes on top of hand carry and luggage at no extra cost. Provided that they are within the size and weight of course. Any other airline better than Delta when it comes to baggage? Edited by TeapotGirl

Were you just lucky? or do they really allow so much baggage?

For me, the best airline is the one that gets me to Manila the quickest. That would be Northwest Airlines: under 17 hours from Seattle.

How are the prices and service?

This is from PI to US though. When my fiance left PI, he was suppose to fly via Continental as set by his travel insurance (He got sick and missed his original flight back to US) but has to go back to Delta and schedule it on his own because he got a lot of stuff to carry: Three 50pound boxes, 1 gym bag and a wheeled bag. He only paid for the 3rd box the rest is free, I forgot how much exactly he paid but it's not over $230. We made sure it's all within the limit, I took home the rest of his stuff.

Continental already charge you for the 3rd bag or if one of your 2 bags is over the weight. If you don't want to pay, just bring hand carry and luggage. This happened on the first week of September 2011. They're not used to be like that.

I must say i have limited experience with different carriers, but just an additional comment, I have been to the philippines 3 times, each time using delta, and unlike the post above I havent had any issues. My flights included change of planes, stopovers etc, my asawa just arrived 2 weeks ago once again flying delta, with a stop over in japan, layover in detroit and onto new york, once again with no issues, and early arrivals at every stop. Maybe its me, but i dont expect much when flying internationally in coach, just be on time, get me where I am going and I am good.

I don't know about the prices. The service seemed OK to me. I'm not picky about prices and service. I just want to get to where I'm going the quickest way possible.

I live in Seattle. It's not faster for me to fly from Seattle to SF or LA and then on to Manila.

Northwest airlines flies from Seattle to Narita, Japan. There is a two-hour layover at Narita, then on to Manila.

after some research, I saw that asiana airlines sounded pretty good. Have any of you traveled with this airline before?

I really enjoyed it when I flew with Asiana.

The staff was good, the plane was clean and I was comfortable...

For me since Im on the West Coast I go with "PAL" non-stop from Manila to LA, 12 hours! I have to admit for my size its not roomy, but service for me have been ok and I love those little Plane graphics that show occasionally on the TV screens that tell you where you are exactly to your destination, temps, Time there, and How long till destination. and unlike one poster said on another thread I didnt see any Flight Attendants over "50"!

Delta- I second Kevin's statement. Just get me there.

I will say that I thought the Service with Delta was good, the attendants nice on all my six flights with them. They were also on time with all their flights. I just rebooked with them and since I am flying in January, I wanted to avoid flying into a snow piled airport like Detroit, JFK, or somewhere else so since there were so many options, I am flying to Seattle first to avoid the snow. I will let you know when I come back but lets hope I have a good flight.
