Consular Officer Misconduct

I had a visa interview at the US Embassy in Bridgetown Barbados. The interview started with abrasive insults to me and my late husband from the consular officer. How do I go about reporting this incidence? Is there an authority over these consulate officers or can they just mistreat and insult people and get away with it?

Tell us how they insulted you both maybe then clear Understand.

Well she wanted me to explain the age difference btw me and late husband. I replied that when we met he did not seem like he was much older than me. Then she replied," He must have been acting juvenile then". Ignored the comment, only for her to say it again..."He must have been acting like a juvenile if you didnot seem older than you"

It was very hurtful to say the least. Such things should not be happening especially when you are talking to a widow!

Consular officials don't work for USCIS, they work for the State Department. Those numbers and that email address are not useful to the OP.

You are right. I found out and reported the incidence here http://oig.state.gov/hotline/

Let's hope they actually take me seriously and do something. In the meantime I am also hiring a lawyer for my case.

If they don't take it seriously, take your complaint over their heads .. keep

going higher and higher, to make sure someone listens!
