Hello all,

I had my interview scheduled last month Nov 9. I went to the interview in time but the officer told me that its been cancelled because I need to be LPR for complete 3yrs for the interview. SO I was told to wait for the new interview letter in the mail. Coming DEC 6th, 2011 it will be exact 3yrs of me becoming LPR. But the thing is that I have not received my interview letter Yet.

If I dont received the interview letter by Dec 6th is it ok for me to walk in for the interview as they have my file ready in the field office. And this field office is pretty small not that much busy.

Has anyone done walk in interview? is it ok to give a try?

any idea...

You cannot do a walk-in interview. If the letter does not arrive soon, either call them or schedule an infopass appointment to ask about your status.

An interview can only be attended with an interview letter. You will be turned away if you walk in without a notice.

LOL. I like how you said it twice to make sure the OP doesn't just get up and walk in there empty handed.

One thing if I dont receive till dec 6th then is it ok to walk in so that they will give me some info about when I will get it because everything is ready in the field office. And my local field office is the one who is going to issue the interview letter..

Do an infopass appointment. So you can be sure that you are able to speak to an agent when you go to the USCIS office. Otherwise, the likelihood that you will be turned away is very high.

Making an infopass appointment is very easy and you can do it online. Go to: http://infopass.uscis.gov/index.php

Today I had infopass appointment. I was told that my interview will might be in February because of holiday. I was just able to talk with the lady in the front desk she got the info from the clerk inside that they will send interview letter somewhere in janurary.

But the thing is that when I went for the real interview in Nov 9th I was able to meet the officer lady and she told me that everything is all right and my file will be in 1st priority and i Just need to be LPR for 3 yrs for the interview.

Is it possible to meet the officer in the field office and talk with the same officer.

any idea?

Anything is possible, be persisitent and polite. When I was interviewing, I had a lady whose file was not there and she had to reschedule. She talked to the Oficer, took his phone number/card and made sure that she would be in contact and have an interview date once files arrives at the office. There was also a discussion of paying for UPS but I guess officer said that they would take care of that. Hope it helps.

That is rather weird. Normally they still interview you, then tell you they cannot approve it until after the 3 year is up. Pity you did not ask to speak to a supervisor, as that IO did not know what he was talking about. I suggest you make an infopass appointment promptly.

Now I think my mistake was going for early interview.. Otherwise everything would have been on right time. Now I already got flight ticket to travel outside of US for 2 weeks in Jan.. Don't know what to do? Shall I again make infopass and request to speak with officer or just wait....

Not interview but going early for finger print ... Now this is the result for going early finger print... Though I receive interview letter field office cancel it and told me it's in 1st priority as soon as it becomes 3 years of becoming LPR they will send me new letter for interview.. 6th Dec it became 3 years and on 9 th Dec I visit field office by making infopass and was able to meet with the lady in counter don't know she might be receipsonist don't think she is a real officer and she got the information asking the

office clerk and told me it might be in anytime in Feb because of holidays and they are moving their office to

new location...

Now what shall I do shall I again make infopass appointment and request them to speak with the officer or supervisor? The thing is that I already got flight ticket and I will be out of country for 2 weeks in January.. The thing is that if they happen to schedule my interview while I am out then again it's going to be delayed for couple of months..

What is the best option to do in this current situation.. Your thoughts and suggestion are highly appreciated.. Thank you...

You made a mistake by not being patient and mailing out you N-400 too early. Not waiting another 2 weeks will now cost you another 2 months of waiting time. I am suggesting over and over here on VJ not to send out the N-400 90 days before eligibility, but 75 or 70 days, for this very reason.

In the end, however, it doesn't matter if you become a citizen in January or March. You just travel with your Green Card one more time.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.
