Hi All,

My husband and I are getting this petition completed and I was just wondering if the sworn affidavits can be done be a family member?

Was just checking so we don't have to redo it again.

Thanks

Yes, it can be a family member. Just remember, if you have sufficient other evidence that shows commingling of finances, etc. then you don't have to do the affidavits. Affidavits surely can't hurt, but they don't have as much bearing as evidence of joint finances, joint lease/mortgage etc.

Welcome and good luck!

Hi All,

Can I be added to the December list? I tried to add myself, but it looked like I was going to mess up the format - I'll figure it out one day (maybe by the time I apply for citizenship)

I sent in my I-751 on 12/18/2011 by Express Mail to the Vermont Service Center.

Thanks

I guess I count as a December filer...

Initial filing was November but it was sent back by the USPS (see timeline in signature - what a nightmare!)

I send my package on Dec 13th - 10 days after my conditional card expired - to the Vermont office.

Today we received the NOA1 and the check was cashed (phew!)

Removal of Conditions (I-751) Timeline:

  • Nov 20th, 2011: Initial Submission Sent
  • Dec 3rd, 2011: Conditional Green Card expires
  • Dec 12th, 2011: Panic! USPS returned package to local Post Office on Nov 25th and didn't tell us!
  • Dec 13th, 2011: Re-sent Package (now late)
  • Dec 19th, 2011: NOA1 received
  • Jan 06th, 2012: Date of Bio Appointment
  • Aug 24th, 2012: Removal of Conditions Approved (letter received 8/29)

The story so far:

  • Aug 2003: Met future wife on her year abroad at university
  • 2005: After a year of long distance, enter USA on F1 visa (we knew we liked each other, weren't sure enough to get married)
  • May 2008: Finish courses, begin 1 year OPT
  • May 2009: Get Married, begin adjustment of status process
  • Dec 3rd 2009: Receive conditional green card

Wow...what a nightmare, Greebo!

I was convinced that USPS screwed up on my package too, as it took a week to get delivered to USCIS in Vermont. Fortunately for me that wasn't the case. And fortunately for you, USCIS received and processed your package. Whew!

Hello every one,

First time poster here, I'm in the process of filling out the I-751 form for my wife and I'm collecting all the data for proof of marriage and have some questions. First her conditional 2-year visa expires 3/04/12, I'm going to submit the package first thing tomorrow (Dec 05) since the USPS is closed today (Sunday), my wife gave birth to our first child 2-weeks ago so I kind of lost track of time, will I still be within a safe window submit everything for tomorrow? Second I read somewhere that some people are submitting passport style photos in the package as well, is this necessary or just personal preference? Lastly, my wife still has her maiden name, I failed to change it on the earlier documentation, on the I-751 form under Part 1 for the line Family Name (Last Name), I entered my last name. Then under Part 3 for the line Other Names Used (including maiden name), I entered my wife's maiden last name. Do you think USCIS will see this and understand I want my wife to have my last name and put that on her CG? Or should I reverse everything? Thanks in advance for the help!!

-Abe
