I hope there's lots of progress this week right before the holidays so everyone can receive a great present from NVC :)

any idea, hw long it will take

It always depends how busy they are. Could be a few days, could be a few weeks.

Just got to talk with an operator at NVC, it was a little bumpy today (long wait and before that it kept ringing busy for a while), there was also a recorded message saying operators will not be available tonight between 5 someting and 6 something. Sorry I didn't write down the exact time, but I thought I should let you know.

So she told me the case is received but she could not take beneficiary's and petitioner's e-mail info yet?? I thought once they've received it they can get the e-mails so they can communicate the case number to you this way.... Is that wrong? I've seen several members lately who said they received their NVC case # by e-mail. I'm confused...

By the way, she told me it was received on Dec 12, and last time I called on Friday, they couldn't see it yet!

NVC probably received your case but hasn't assigned it a number yet, thus they can't take the email addresses yet. Just keep calling every day asking if a number has been assigned yet. Once it has, then you should be able to give the email addresses.

Finally got some action from the NVC last night. Unfortunately though, it's an RFE for original birth and marriage certificates. I thought we would be ok as we sent copies certified by a Justice of the Peace in Australia. Apparently they don't accept that, we are kicking ourselves, but at least if we send them out today, we have a chance of a CC this year...

I'm worrying about this original thing... Here in France THE original record is in a big book at the city hall, so what they do is copy it and stamp it with the date they made it. That's for the birth certificate. For the marriage certificate they print it and it says it was computer generated. These are the closest to original documents I can get!

I wouldn't worry, that should be fine. The part I misread on the website was the part that said they needed to be certified as true copy 'by the issuing authority'. We had a third party certify them. If you had a government official do it, and that's the only way to get a copy of your record of birth, you should be fine.
