Hello All,

My fiance had a K1 visa interview at the Islamabad Embassy on November 17. I had made a topic a day after sharing with everyone that she was approved. She was told by the interviewer that she was approved, and should be expecting her passport and visa in 2 weeks. The interviewer took her passport and visa, and gave her a purple colored token, along with the address of the American Express office where she will be receiving her package.

I called the Department of State today just to check on the status of everything, and I was told that my fiance's visa has not been issued yet, and that our case is under administrative review...Why would I be told this if my fiance was told she was approved? The interviewer had told her she would be getting a call within 2 weeks to pick up her visa! So what kind of bull**** is this? What is going on? Has this happened to anyone else?

I'm completely frustrated with this new information, and I just don't know what the next steps are....

Hello- the exact same thing is happening to my husband and I!! He went for his interview at the Tunisian embassy and he was missing the marriage paper in english so he ran to get it translated and gave it to them the same day they gave him a green reciept and told him to come back on Thursday he came back that Thursday and they acted like they didn't remember him and didn't understand why he was there. They told him they would contact him by email within the next 2 week's and there has been nothing. I have called the dept of state almost everyday and I called the embassy in Tunisia they are telling me nothing only that it is under administrated review and his case is pending. I don't understand what is going on this is crazy like you said a bunch of bull****!!!! we have done everything they asked and then some and passed every step I don't understand what the problem is and why they can't ease our minds!! I"m sure they get to come home and greet there spouse with a kiss enjoy a meal together and roll over in bed to kiss them good night and tell them how much they love each other without having a computer screen between them... It is not our fault God put our loved one's on the other side of the world from us!! we are being punished for falling in love with someone that is not a usa citizen... this is crazy bs something has got to change with this government system!!!

I think everyone undergoes extra scrutiny from that Embassy....sri but just the realty considering present day relations. You should have expected such; doesn't help I know but it's just well known. The fact they kept the passport is a good sign.

They are probably just running the name checks and bcos its a female the ap shouldnt last too long. Just call DOS once a week and keep tabs on the info... keep a call log so you can kind of see what's going on...

In our beginning we had to submit new docs and so when we called we were in standard review then it switched over to AP (we were told at that time by the CO that they couldnt tell us we were approved technically but our case was fine and nothing to worry about and the name checks had to be done now that they were satisfied with our info and relationship)

now they are saying its in review again so I pray they are putting all the name check info back with the case and looking everything over now to make thier final decision but only time will tell.

good luck to you

Thanks for all the replies folks. What other papers were asked for after the interview? My fiance had all of her papers in order, including signatures and everything. Her interview was extremely quick - the CO didn't even ask her for photo proofs or anything - just simple and straightforward questions. She wasn't even asked any questions related to finances. I tried emailing the embassy, but apparently they have a challenging time responding to emails...especially when my question is less than 10 words and enlarged so its easy and QUICK to read.

I'm still pissed off. Is it even worth calling the embassy? That is if they even pick up...

My fiance is in the same situation.

Her interview was November 17. The file we have prepared and submitted for this k1 visa has been very detailed and appropriate to the requirements. The interview lasted about a minute with only 4 questions being asked. The CO told congratulated her and and said the Visa Stamped Passport will be available at the Lahore American Express office in 7 days.

After two weeks, I sent an email to the embassy and was told they would forward it to the consular office and reply in a couple of days. No reply came and I sent another email the following week and the same email reply came back to me. This is the beginning of the fourth week now so I called Department of State today. I was told the file is pending and in administrative processing.

My fiance was given a pinkish purple token for passport pickup along with a page of addresses for American Express with the office in lahore highlighted.

I have not idea why our file went to AP but I think it has a lot to do with the relations between the two coutries taking a nose dive about 10 days after my fiance had the interview. Please update your status if anything happens and I will also let you know if something comes up on my side.
