Hey everyone,

I was just wondering if anyone here is from San Antonio and going through the immigration process like we are. It would be nice to meet some local people for a beer, immigration talk or just general chatting.

I'm the "alien" in our marriage (Swedish), and my husband is a native San Antonio guy who's lived here practically his whole life. We're both in our early 30s.

We're pretty social and have become really well-integrated here, but we would still love to meet some other people who share our experiences with the USCIS. Most people we run into over here, as well as most of our friends, know absolutely zero about the immigration process - they seem to think that you become a citizen (not even just a resident!) automatically upon getting married to an American. Don't we all wish that were true.

In any case, just post back here or send me a private message if you live in San Antonio and want to get in touch.

Thanks!

I'm in the area. Are you already here in South Texas? I'm waiting for my Belarusian wife to get her visa....

Edited to add.....I see you are here already. You might try some of the meetup groups that are active in SA also.... I know the Russian group is active, and hosted by several couples who have shared our experience.

Exasperated, look up for The Austin Scandinavian meetup group at meetup.com.

Most folks are in Austin, but there are a few in San Antonio as well. At least a few Finns, a few Swedes, a few Danish or Norwegians... or post in that group to see if there would be enough folks for a Scandinavian San Antonio meeting as well. :)
