ok thanx but my biometrics was done from january 11,2012 so why is it taking so lon for me to get an interview letter :(

it just depends on your situation and your field office and where you are in the line. the national average for the whole process is 5 months. for some, it takes longer, for others, shorter but for most it'll take the full 5 months.

Perhaps they can but that's not really the problem as I know a reliable certified translator near my mothers place, one I also used during our initial k1 application (the consulate is about 1.5 hrs away from my mother and I'm sure their translator is near the consulate so I don't want to put that burden on my mother of traveling so far) . Thing is, we don't know how soon we can have the originals, and how long it will take for the translator to finish it and then how long does it take for it to get to my place so I can bring it to the interview. I can have the original court order pretty fast after my mother receive it. So in order to speed up, I wonder if a non-sworn translation would be good enough... maybe it is but maybe it isn't lol... let's just hope I have enough time until the interview... under normal circumstances I should have, I believe they send the letters at least 2 weeks in advance, so that could be enough :)

What i'll do if i were you, is get the ball rolling on getting the originals, and set up for translations. But if you can not get them in time, take the copies you made when you went for your K-1 interview and give them those and explain that they have the originals in your main A FILE. From what i understand is that your A file contains all paper work you ever submitted since you started the immigration process.

I'm scared too, because i have 3 speeding tickets, so hopefully every thing will go allright.

Yeah I think I will be doing that indeed. Perhaps even make a translation myself to the side of that and certify that it is a true translation, just to have as an extra.

Yeah can imagine you're scared with 3 speeding tickets, but if you're below 500 dollar for a ticket, they should be more lenient about it I think :)

Guys quick update: I tried to stay away from visajourney so I won't stress out.

After calling USCIS 30 days after receiving the NOA they emailed me 15 days later saying that I won't have to do a new Biometric because I did one on 3/3/2011 but they didn't mention anything about next steps "interview" :(

BUT

I received a Yellow letter saying: THIS IS NOT AN ITERVIEW NOTICE ... ..Bring your state-issued driver's license or id.

Question: what's does this mean? Getting closer to the interview?

Thanks Fam!! And GOOD LUCK!!!

Ok so 30 days after I did not receive the biometrics notice I opened a service request, within 15 days they got back to me that I dont require biometrics because I took them recently for my removal of conditions on GC, and last week I received a YELLOW NOTICE saying that they want arrest records at the time of interview , I was arrested once and charged with DWI , but the charges were dropped and case dismissed , I had also sent the original case disposition with my paper work, but why do they want me to get it again to the interview? are they not satisfied with the court disposition I sent them..do they want additional or different paperwork.. I am confused

seems more and more people get this yellow letter, many of us also got it. I think it does mean you're getting closer to the interview. What I basically think, but this is purely hypothetical by me, is that they inspect the applications and everything at the locations where we send them to before they actually forward the applications to the local office. Now, when they forward the application to the local office, and this is my guess, the initial inspectors also send out the yellow letters to those they feel need to get one. I also received the message regarding the driver license but I also had to add my court records.. many others had a similar letter but stating they had to bring their speeding ticket information and such.

So basically, what I think, is that they inspect the package, send us a yellow letter and send the package to the local office who will schedule for bio (if needed) and an interview with us. I am not sure if this is what is happening but it would make sense (also in the way of them saying 'not an interview notice').

I have a similar situation going on. I was once arrested (in 1998 or so) and had to go to court two years after that (2000). I have no access to arrest records, only to a certified copy of a verbal court order. Now, during my AOS I have given the IO, by his request, the originals of these court records so I know for a fact it is in that big file that they keep of me. I have given them a copy of those originals with this application and explained that they already have it, yet I still received the same letter saying I need to bring them to the interview.

My guess is basically that the yellow letter (in addition to what I wrote above) is a standard letter. If you say that you have ever been arrested then it would show that part also on the yellow letter, regardless of the outcome, what kind of case it is and where the originals are. I think it is a bit like an automated system, they enter the information in the system and the system spits out that yellow letter. But like said above, I am not sure about this, it's just a hunch.

In my case, I have ordered yet another original certified copy of my verbal court order (the only thing I can show them, I have no legal access to my arrest records in my old country (nobody in my country can, we can look at them but not make copies or anything so that's useless)) and as soon as my mom receives it (since it's in my old country), she will get a certified translation done. It is double work since we did this before for the initial K1 and for the AOS but they asked for it again. It sounds silly to me, especially because I just know they have these documents but, just to be sure, I am still doing it. I don't want to be denied or get a huge delay on my application just because I didn't do it (and, of course, you'll see that now I am arranging all this, I might not need it haha).

In your case, I would just get another original like they ask for in the yellow letter. It's double, I know but better safe than sorry imho. Also, if you read the instructions carefully, you'll see that they clearly instruct not to send any originals, just copies and that they will ask for originals if they need them during the interview :)

I received a yellow notice today :(. They recommend me bringing my State Drivers's License. Why would they ask me for this? I live in Houston 1 1/2 years ago but have not changed my Driver's License due to time and because I will go back next year. Any idea why I received this notice and any suggestions ?

Because the majority of us are receiving the same notice. It's not personal. It appears to be an automatic thing sent to a large number of us waiting for interviews.

Still waiting for my interview invitation but at least I know I will get my certified translation and certified court document this coming Monday by the end of the day with UPS. The translator will finish everything up tomorrow and it will go with UPS to me on Thursday. So that's at least positive (only downside is that the whole thing costs us about 350 USD unsure.gif (that is translation and priority shipping with UPS, but better spend this now than to not have it available when they want to see it))
