Hello:

The interview has been scheduled for mid-morning. Can you still have an oath ceremony that day, if you pass the interview? How about the next day? Or they will only administer the oath, when you complete your 5 years as a resident alien?

Thanks,

and yes, if it is 5-year basis naturalization .... you have to wait till the 5-yr mark even if interview is being conducted earlier.

Hi guys,

Someone mentioned that Oath Ceremonies in Atlanta are held once a quarter. Is this true? She was given an Oath date for the 28th of February, and I wanted to see if this is the frequency of Oaths, or incorrect information.

Thanks

Looking at the immigration timeslines in VJ for Atlanta and sorting by Oath date descending, they seem to be much more frequent (12/12, 11/18, 10/07, 09/23, 09/08 etc.)

Thanks. Where can we find this information for a particular field office? It seems like that this is the schedule for people who may be taking an oath in a court?

I haven't been able to find such a list for field offices. I think most of the oaths happen in court with a judge but I may be mistaken. The only people I've known to do same day oaths are people in the military or people who got lucky and happen to have done the interview on the same day as an already schedule oath ceremony.

D and C, thanks for clarifying. I suspected this information was incorrect as I do remember people on this forum taking their Oaths in consecutive months past.

Perhaps they can but that's not really the problem as I know a reliable certified translator near my mothers place, one I also used during our initial k1 application (the consulate is about 1.5 hrs away from my mother and I'm sure their translator is near the consulate so I don't want to put that burden on my mother of traveling so far) . Thing is, we don't know how soon we can have the originals, and how long it will take for the translator to finish it and then how long does it take for it to get to my place so I can bring it to the interview. I can have the original court order pretty fast after my mother receive it. So in order to speed up, I wonder if a non-sworn translation would be good enough... maybe it is but maybe it isn't lol... let's just hope I have enough time until the interview... under normal circumstances I should have, I believe they send the letters at least 2 weeks in advance, so that could be enough :)

These might be questions you want to post in the main forum. I feel like the rules for translation of documents are a bit different (read easier) than when most of us filed our initial packets. I'm not sure if it depends on the type of document but I think anyone can translate as long as it has a specific statement on the bottom saying you are fluent in both languages. Don't quote me on that but I think it's worth double checking outside of this thread.

Really glad you got a yellow letter so you can relax that the gov't didn't lose your packet :D We also got a yellow letter last week asking to make sure we bring a state id.

After you said your story I really don't think it's going to cause any difficulties for you during your interview, sounds like more of a technicality and part of the process at this point. I would just make sure that you have your documentation and are ready to do your spiel of what happened all those years ago.

Thanks, and you're so right. Now that I received the yellow letter I am a lot more at ease indeed :D (am still checking daily but without the feeling of being lost that I started to get before hehe)

And yeah, I think I will first see how long it will take to actually receive a court certified copy of the document and then if the translation can be done within a short time, then I will have it done by a sworn translator, which is always the safest. If that proves not to be on time, or too risky to be on time, then I will inform in the main forums and see what others say. For now I will just wait and see how this goes. Hopefully it will all be within reasonable time, and then we will have a good translation for sure :)

You're probably also right about the last part of your post, it has been a long time ago and why would it cause problems now while I was able to get AOS and ROC? I have been honest about it all the time so why would it cause for problems now if it didn't during those two parts of the immigration? Like you also said, it is probably more like a technicality and I kind of like to think it is an automated letter. They probably have to enter certain information in the system before they ship the dossier to the local office and once the 'ever been arrested' box gets ticket, a yellow letter goes out. At least that's a bit how I imagine it would be, the text is so generic really :)

For now I'm not that worried, I feel actually as if I am quite close to getting my citizenship (if I pass the tests haha), pretty excited about it :D
