I got my interview letter today! Well, actually yesterday but we didn't get the mail in till this morning. My interview is March 12 at 10am, so yep, I'll be hot on your heels Moony! Guess I'd better start looking at that stuff they gave me to learn. I'm hopeless with names and dates. :(

PS. I guess getting your fingerprints done early or when they send you the appointment doesn't make a whole lot of difference - I thought Moony would be 3 weeks ahead of me, and there's only a few days difference between our interview appointments.

Hi Good people.

I got the "Yellow Letter" in the mail today, asking me to bring my traffic violation court disposition to my interview. So, not sure what this means or if this is a sign for anything to come soon. My online status still reads that my biometrics letter was sent.

Thanks and will keep you posted.

Well I have good news, and a bit less good news but at least nothing to worry at this point.

They did not forget about me, I received the well-known yellow notice today (funny because I said to myself 'if there is nothing in the mail, I will give them a call today' lol). I will have to bring my driver license, like everyone else, so that's not too bad, but I will also have the originals or court certified copies if arrest recoirds and all that. Pretty standard message, I'm sure. The exact message is this:

"You indicated in your application that you have been arrested. For these arrests and any other incidents in which you may have been involved, bring originals or certified copies of all arrest records and court dispositions showing how each incident was resolved."

Now comes the big question, what exactly should I bring?

During my interview back when I had the AOS, they took my originals for both the verbal court order and the certified translation (since it happened a looong time ago in the Netherlands). Couldn't they just use that instead together with the copies I've send during every part of my immigration here (K1, AOS, ROC etc)?

All I can do is give the court in the Netherlands a call tonight (their morning), have them send a verbal court order back to my mother's place in the Netherlands and have her get me a certified copy of it again, after which she can send the whole thing to me by Fedex. Only thing I hope is that the court back there is fast enough sending the stuff before I actually have to go to an interview (like the others with a yellow notice, it is not an interview notice yet) or I might face a delay because of it. I am wondering though, wouldn't they be ok with the copies that I made since they already have the originals in my big immigration file? (no worries, I don't want to find out, I want to be sure and get it anyways)

One big thing I am wondering about is the arrest records and such. The only thing I am allowed to get in the Netherlands is my verbal court order. I cannot get anything else besides that. Arrest records are unavailable to citizens (the consulate, for example, needs to request these themselves for example when you file K1, I believe we're one of the few (if not the only) countries that has it like that). I cannot give any thing other than that, and the verbal court order only shows the 'sentencing' and not how it was resolved and if I received a clean slate after that.

What do you guys think? Should I be worried about the arrest records that I am unable to get, or do you think they will be fine with the certified verbal court order with certified translation? It's the best I can do.

And, you know, perhaps this whole message is just a standard message because I indicated that I have ever been arrested, even if all information was included with my package already. I think this is very likely, though.

Oh well, let's hope I can gather this before the actual interview, at least they did not forget about me as I was afraid of :)

They must be mailing these Yellow notices enmass, i received one on friday, for the speeding tickets i had. so i'm gathering all the required documents. in your case , they want the whole thing translated and then get it notalized and take your original notes.

Welcome Dave&Amy,

I added your details. A number of us did not receive bio appointments - this is usually because you had one less than 15 months ago (for AOS?). Don't expect to get the fee refunded though :)

Yeah they do have the original translation also (same as the original court documents, they wanted it all during the AOS), but I think I will indeed request new ones (about to call) including the certified translations just to be sure. I'm not too worried about it, in this case I cannot give them anything else as my old country doesn't give those papers (we're allowed to view them at the court but cannot make any copies either). If anything, I'm sure the US consulate in Amsterdam can confirm that I cannot retrieve those (since they retrieve them for all applicants themselves for the same reason).

And indeed, I see a lot of people posting about the yellow notices. Guess they're having a lot of work on us xD

Hey Shaq,

Nothing to worry about, my brother. In my case, I had two speeding tickets which they call an "arrest" for some God-known reason, rather than a simple citation. I submitted copies of my dispositions, as strongly advised by my attorney. So I have the originals with me, as well as the Original citations. This is all that is needed. Be sure to also take this Yellow letter with you to the interview.

I have a friend who got two tickets, just like me. He applied for Naturalization about 2 weeks before me, and last week he got his Yellow letter asking him to bring court dispositions of his "arrest." About 4 days later, he got his actual interview letter.

Question, in case you need some documents translated (like my verbal court order), would you go for a sworn translator or do you think anyone who is willing to "certify that the translation is complete and accurate, and that he or she is qualified to translate" (quoted from the yellow letter) would be ok?

I'm just wondering about this for the 'what if' situation. I have contacted the court back in the Netherlands and I had to send in my request by mail including a copy of my passport, so it might take a while before I receive it. So in order to get that and get the sworn translation as well might easily take over a month, if not longer. I will still do the sworn translator, of course, but just in case it wont be done on time, would they be willing to take a translation by a non-sworn translator (such as myself, I can testify it is translated to the best of my knowledge and it to be a true translation (technically I would just copy the copy of the translation that I already have) but I am not a sworn translator, of course) as well if it is not ready on time?

What about the Dutch Embassy, would'nt they have a translator or recommend one that is reliable, i sure they use one for their documents and that one should carry more weight.

What about the Dutch Embassy, would'nt they have a translator or recommend one that is reliable, i sure they use one for their documents and that one should carry more weight.

Perhaps they can but that's not really the problem as I know a reliable certified translator near my mothers place, one I also used during our initial k1 application (the consulate is about 1.5 hrs away from my mother and I'm sure their translator is near the consulate so I don't want to put that burden on my mother of traveling so far) . Thing is, we don't know how soon we can have the originals, and how long it will take for the translator to finish it and then how long does it take for it to get to my place so I can bring it to the interview. I can have the original court order pretty fast after my mother receive it. So in order to speed up, I wonder if a non-sworn translation would be good enough... maybe it is but maybe it isn't lol... let's just hope I have enough time until the interview... under normal circumstances I should have, I believe they send the letters at least 2 weeks in advance, so that could be enough :)
