Thanks guys, that does actually make a lot of sense. I'll try not to worry myself too much for another month haha (that is a couple of weeks extra, and yes, easier said than done, but I never looked at it this way and it does give some me some perspective). But if I haven't heard anything yet by the end of Feb, I think I'm going to make a phone call lol :)

JeroenAndMichelle: I'm in the same situation as you and I was sooooo frustrated that I called them on the 30 days mark as they said on the NOA. I myself had my Biometrics done in February of 2011 and was freaking out. I USCIS and they collected some info and they opened a case and gave me a number saying that someone will contact me in 15 days regarding the status of my application. I hope I didn't jinx myself from skipping fingerprinting but I hope I will hear back soon. My 3 year LPR anniversary will be on March 3rd (almost 1 month away) and I just don't want any delays :) so finger crossed I hope to hear something back soon: Biometrics waived or straight to interview. Just an FYI.

Bonne Chance!!!

Guys, JeroenAndMichelle: and Bonne Chance

I have faith that everything is O.K. just take a look at Jeheidz's time line, They took 77 days from the time he submitted his application to the time they scheduled an interview thats 2-3RD months. The whole processes from previous time lines, its taking them about 4 months to complete the whole process. I bet you, you guys will receive notices for your interviews when the time comes. For example i put my case number on the Info pass page and it told me that it's not correct, but i'm not going to worry about it. Because anything can happen. Patience guys.

Shaq.

Seems you're in about the same timeline as I am. My fingerprints were Feb. 11, 2011 and my 3 year anniversary is March 13. I'm curious what they will say when they come back to you. And yeah, that 30 day mark is exactly why I am a bit nervous as that passed by already. Also when I look at someone else here in HI, who submitted 2 weeks before me, he gets his interview in a few days, so I wonder why it takes longer in my situation. Keep us updated :)

I agree, you're right about the time line. I'm currently almost 7 weeks away from the date that I've send the application, and about 6 weeks from the NOA. Hopefully we hear something soon, not hearing anything is the hardest part because of the 'what if' :) Like said, I'll wait until the end of February before I call, that should be enough time. If I didn't hear anything by then, I will make a phone call to USCIS to inform about my status. I just hope it wont be necessary :)

@love2win: Did you hear anything back from them yet, or nothing yet?

Darn.. it's easy to say that I am going to try to be patient but now that I see someone who filed in Phoenix actually has an interview date, I am getting nervous again.. :( Maybe I should call them. I don't care if there is an RFE or Bio (well, I wouldn't like it but still), I simply hope to hear something from them. I hate this wait and to be uncertain... if my application was straight forward, I would be less worried but I am scared there is a complication in the good morale part :(

Just because someone who filed into Phoenix got an interview date should you worry that you haven't yet, because the interview date (and biometrics, I believe) is determined by your local office, Honolulu. You're better off checking out past months' forum posts and seeing how long it took them.

Someone in Augsut (http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/321956-n-400-august-2011/page__st__420) got their inteview 2 months and 2 days after their NOA. You're running a little behind (they got their interview letter a month after NOA) but bear in mind you filed right before the holidays. I say in 3 weeks if you haven't gotten your interview letter you can start worrying.

You're running a little behind (they got their interview letter a month after NOA) but bear in mind you filed right before the holidays. I say in 3 weeks if you haven't gotten your interview letter you can start worrying.

If I go by the standards of the Honolulu office, I should receive the interview letter tomorrow (but then the change of status on the USCIS website should have been made a while ago) as someone I know here, with the same nationality as me, has his interview in 12 days (Feb 14) and received his interview letter on Jan 20.. He filed exactly 2 weeks before me (he's no member of VJ, which is why he doesn't show in the lists here) so by that, I should have my interview letter tomorrow (which I will not as the status is still on the initial review part lol).

So yeah, like you said, the holidays were in between and when we look at that August filer as well, I do run only a little behind but still I cannot help it to be a little bit worried about the situation.

I mean, let me explain what it is so it might be better to understand for everyone. About 12 years ago I had to go to court because a year or two or so before that (I don't even recall the dates anymore), I got arrested for transporting stolen goods from a city center to someone's house several weeks before the arrest date. At the time, I did not know I was actually transporting stolen goods, the guys who said it was theirs (these were so-called 'friends' of a 'friend' of mine) told me it was theirs and asked me if I could help them out. Unfortunately I did. So after explaining the situation in court, which was about 12 years ago, I received a suspended fine of 500 guilders (about 260 dollar at the time.. the suspended fine would only have to be paid if I would do something illegal within the next 2 years (kind of like a probation, but a little bit different). Others, who actually knew what they did, received several weeks of jail time, so there is a huge difference between them and me. It kind of shows how the judge thought about it as well, I did transport the items but I never knew it was stolen until after I got arrested. So it was a crime of moral turpitude but never with full knowledge and I have not been punished for moral turpitude either because of said reason of me not knowing about it.

However, because of the vague description of my verbal court order (and a wrongly sworn translation of it), the consular back in my country needed the whole situation on paper as a written statement before he could actually approve me for my K1 back in 2008. Initially he didn't want to do it because of it all, thankfully he allowed me to do this. I also got a better sworn translation from a different translator (one who actually had experience in sworn translations in the legal field, which the other did not, apparently) and that together made him decide to give me my K1 visa.

Obviously, once in the US I have been worried again, for example during my AOS. It was questioned by the IO at the time, but he was quite easy on it eventually. Mostly because I was allowed into the US already by the consular, because of the time frame of when it all happened, and because I originally never knew about it. During ROC I was less worried about it because people hardly received interviews at the time (I never had any either for my ROC) and why would they deny me for my ROC while that had nothing to do with my residency anymore? Still, I did mention it again as we needed to enter 'everything' that ever happened, and thats also what I did now.

Thing is, they can deny me for this very reason. It wouldn't feel fair at all if they did, especially because I never knew that I was doing something illegal at the time, but they could do it and that is where I get my worries. Especially because I don't hear from them when I expected to hear something. Perhaps I should have waited a few more months to be out of the 15 months mark, so I would be sure to have to do biometrics but that's a bit after the fact now. Another thing that plays along is the fact that they needed more documents, documents I cannot even get as a Dutch citizen (for example, we cannot get police records at all, the US embassy can get these for the applicants and does this as well, and this is an exception on the rule, but they did ask for it in the N400... how am I going to send it to them if I cannot get my hands on it?).

So yeah, I hope it's a bit more clear why I am worried about it all. I will, like you said, give it a few more weeks. I guess I can do that.. if not, I will just give them a call when I can really not stand it anymore. I just hope it wont take too long so it can finally stop haunting me :)

I still think that you are making a mountain out of a mole hill, what i think you should do is to wait and see how things progress. There is nothing you can do about it, and if this incident is holding you up, they will eventually let you know. Thats the way i feel. Its beyond your control and the only thing you can do is pray that you will have a favourable officer at the time of your test. You live in Hawaii, for crying out loud, go surf or something. LOL

Haha I know, right? There's better stuff to do over here than to worry so much xD

You're probably right, I probably make this issue too big in my head while it shouldn't be. Like you've also said, it's out of my hands and all I can do is wait and see what they will decide. I'll try and give it some rest :)
