When they say 125% of poverty line, this means ANNUAL INCOME right? Does it matter even if I haven't been at my job for a whole year yet? And also, when they say "household", does that mean only the people I would be supporting? So if i lived with my parents and my fiance, does that mean I have 2 people in my household? My fiance and I? I'm stressing out because My fiance and I are dealing with the US embassy in Manila.

yes

Nope. You're the beneficiary (I assume you're the guy, according to your previous posts). They will only look after the petitioner income to avoid the tendency of public charge once you set your foot in the US.
And also, when they say "household", does that mean only the people I would be supporting?

Of the petitioner yes. K-1 is a non immigrant visa and up until you adjust your status or get an advance parole, you are not allowed to work and considered as a temporary resident. It should be $18,500 for 2 people. If you have kids that you are bringing any with you and if she has any, then the income should be higher. Edited by teapotgurl1983

I think what penguin mahal is asking is whether they look at ACTUAL earned income (for the year) or EXPECTED/PROJECTED annual income. I asked a similar question a few days ago and still haven't really gotten a definite answer. I too haven't worked at my job for an entire year and did not earn any income in 2010.

penguin mahal, it seems that we may have very similar circumstances. I'll keep you updated with any information I might find. But it looks like your interview is coming up, so I hope you'll let me know what happens (regarding co-sponsors, etc). On another note, from what I've been reading, it does, unfortunately, seem that more weight given to tax return info than to wage statements (again, just from what I've been reading thus far).

Well, it's both specially if the petitioner is young. The beneficiary will need to bring ITR and W2 for the past 2 years of the petitioner, you will also be asked what's current his/her job and previous work history.

You are right they put more weight on the ITR, that is because they want to see stability.

alexd, My fiance's estimated interview is sometime in Feb. (to be on the conservative side). I just got the NOA2 last week. According to this information I guess I have enough to sponsor my fiance alone. I work as a RN. (Though I have only been working for 3 months now.) I still plan to have my mom be a co-sponsor though. I hope this will be enough. How about you?

Ohh my job history doesn't go back that far. I just graduated in April 2010. I hope this doesn't become an issue.

Current annualized income, not year to date, is what is evaluated for a wage/salary earner.

Your parents are not a part of your household count unless you claimed them as dependents on your most recent tax return.

Actually I am a female petitioner. (one of the few) If I live with my parents would that make us 4 in the household? Or only just two since I only have to support my fiance and myself?

You seem to be sharing your username with your fiance. I suggest you put your name at the end of each question at the end of your posts to identify who's who.

Why February? You can be interviewed as soon as possible. Heard that December slots is full now. Just call or email to get the Manila case number, your fiance can already arrange a medical at St. Lukes, give it another week then schedule the interview at US Embassy Manila.

You are both RN's so I suppose there will always be room for employment for the two of you. You two will be okay.

As for myself, I was studying in the Philippines from late 2009 until July of this year. Based on my PROJECTED salary, I do meet the income requirements, but like yourself, I have only been there for a short time (since August). I did have a good and stable job (for around 8 years) before I left the U.S. in 2009. I plan on sending my ITR's for the 2008 and 2009 tax years (in order to show that I am capable of holding down a job--"stability"). I'm hoping that they will look at those ITR's, see that I have a steady job now, and accept the reason that I didn't earn any income in 2010 and most of 2011 was because I was abroad--and hopefully, take it all as sufficient evidence.

If not, I hope they accept an Affidavit of Support from my father (along with his tax info) and allow me to use him as a co-sponsor.

With regard to your situation, I have heard of people who also met the income requirement (based on their projected salary) but were asked for additional evidence of support because they hadn't been at that job for very long. If that becomes the case for you, then, whether or not they accept a co-sponsor will present itself as an issue :(

Yes, you can qualify on your own because, as an RN, you have a current sustained income well above 125% of the poverty line. Also, I like your idea of having your mother as a cosponsor.

In my opinion, to increase your chances of an approval, I suggest that you to attend the interview.

I am not sharing my username with anybody. Sorry to confuse you.

Good luck to you. Keep me updated. I hope the CO will be kind and understanding in our reasons regarding this matter.

Thank you for your input. Unfortunately I am not able to attend the interview because it is too short of a notice for my employer. :-(
