Hello All,

Two days ago online the online tag moved into "oath ceremony"; two days later on the mail i received the letter to attent the Oath;

I have a small disorderly conduct conviction so I was not sure if I was going to pass or not but I DID !

I want to thank Lord and the US soil and the founders of Visajourney.com for all the support.

Thank you!

One final question though: why is the Oath Scheduled to a Courthouse? ;-)

Eastern District of New York

Congrats!!!

Did you ask for a name change? That might be the reason why it is taking place at the court house.

Congratulations!!!! I feel you. felt the same way two months ago... You are taking an oath so I guess it must be administered within a legal setting :innocent: ? I think I had mine in the same venue too.

Some people have issues with the wordings of the oath of allegiance but I DO NOT. This country offers people opportuntiies that many would not have deemed possible. Within a period of five years , I have attained heights(educationally, materilaly, socially, financially etc) that I never dreamed possible, thanks to God. It is not by force so if people worry so much about the oath then they should not naturalize!!!

:ot2: Very brief ceremony but with good feeling so go and feel proud!!!!

In some states (such as my home state Indiana), your oath ceremony is held in court whether you apply for a name change or not.

Congratulations!

Oath ceremony will be solemnized at court if the applicant had requested for a name change. So if that is your case, then a court ceremony is natural. Congrats!! Welcome to the US citizens club!!

In several Districts the Oath Ceremony is held in a Federal Courthouse because it is a legal binding proceeding which is overseen by a Federal Judge. In these Districts, if the local courtrooms are not large enough for the amount of people that may attend, an alternate location is utilized, but the "site" is temporarily declared a Federal Court.

By law, the sole authority to naturalize persons as citizens of the United States is conferred upon the Attorney General.

But in these Districts I mentioned above, the court wishes to have exclusive authority to administer the oath of allegiance and it is granted by the Attorney General.
