port of entry... confused

is the address of my fiance which is in my visa should be my port of entry? because right now he's not staying there due to his job. I'll be flying in other state and live there for a while. Will that be a problem in immigration? please help us ... we are planning to buy a plane ticket now and leave this coming Saturday. Thank VJ people!!!

It doesnt matter where you enter the US,it doesnt have to be the state you will live in.

However, make sure they have the right address for you?

Did you declare your port of entry during the interview? During my interview the lady who pre-screened me asked which airport I will be flying to. I said Dallas but after checking some flights online it appeared that I might be flying to LA

they didn't ask me where will be my port of entry, they just asked me the address of my fiance

It doesnt matter where you enter the US,it doesnt have to be the state you will live in.

You're Point of Entry or "POE" is the very first point where you enter the United States after going through customs.

For example, my husband's Point of Entry will be Boston, MA, but we will then have a connecting flight to Buffalo, NY.

my fiance lives in somewhere state but because of his job, he transferred in other state. so since i'm coming, instead of flying in somewhere state it'll be in other state. we'll purchase a ticket going in other state not in the somewhere state where he live. pls let me know if it confuse u

First state in the US which you will land on is the POE... For example. i am in the US, I am originally from Manila but i wanna go to Cebu first before going to manila. So I will take a flight first going to Cebu, spend time there before going to manila. My POE here would be Cebu, since this is my first entry to Philippine soil.

I traveled a lot between manila and US. they are strict about how many kilos or lbs you can have. I usually go underweight by about 2 kilos or so.. just to be on the safe side. I also take the exact # of allowable baggage.. 2 check-ins, 1 carry on, and i also use a backpack (i call it a purse) hehe
