14 yo boy travelling to US on immigration visa, what happens at immigrations at the airport?

my son got his immigration visa , he will be flying from Melbourne Australia to Honolulu , HI in jan , he is 14 when he get off the plane i know i cant be with him to he comes through to baggage claim but what happens ?? , do they ask him anything does it take longer than say normal to get through immigration ? anyone had there child do this on there own?
