My Greencard had the date I entered the US back in May for "Resident Since"... As I was transfered to CSC in December, I had no AOS interview and it was approved in January. I'm confused now. What date is it suppose to have?

I too was approved without interview but my "Resident Since" date is the date my AOS was approved (as indicated on the Welcome to America letter). It's interesting that yours is your date of entry.

maybe depends on the type of visa? K1s cannot be deemed resident until the AOS is approved can they? K3s are different.

Thanks for the congratulations.

I only asked because the clocks for removing conditions and applying for naturalization are tied to that date.

We'll know soon enough, and in the grand scheme of things, it's not that big of a deal. We're both just relieved that it's over with for now.

Ruth, and others, I just read a post elsewhere on this topic that I thought was interesting. Ther person had applied for naturalization based on the date on their card and went all the way to the interview (passed the questions etc).

A week after the interview, the officer told him that the card date was wrong and told him his new PR anniversary date, said it was the applicant's repsonsibility to know that and kicked the application back as inelligible. The lawyer who answered the post agreed with USCIS.

If your AOS anniversary is not tied to an obvious event (like an Immigrant Visa holder entering the US, or an AOS interview date), it might be worth double checking this error, especially in Ruth's case, where it shows her entry as a K-1.

I wonder if this is in anyway related to the answer one puts on the I-485? Don't remember the Q# offhand, but have seen it discussed here.

What then would you suggest I do in regards to this? My Greencard is already back in USCIS hands due to them putting that I'm male on the card and my filing an I-90 for that. Do I file another I-90 or what? If I do, what is the date I should say is the correct date to be in there if it is not the day I got here in my K1? My AOS approval? I don't even know the exact date my AOS was approved as the first email I got regarding this said "On January 11, 2006 after approving your application, we ordered you a new card." Then after that, an email was sent saying this: "This case has been approved. On January 14, 2006, an approval notice was mailed." The date on the actual letter containing my greencard has this date "01/12/2006" and The Welcome notice is dated "January 13, 2006". As you can see, I am very very very confused on what date means what and when I was actually approved.

So... What is the true date when I should apply for naturalization, or even before that, when do I file to lift conditions? My brain is about ready to explode. :dead:

I agree, you have too many choices to figure it out on your own. Plus, your guess, or mine, doesn't matter :)

Next time you are downtown, pop in the office and ask them to look it up for you. You *could* try calling 1-800MisInfo, but I'd be more inclined to drop in the Local (or make an InfoPass if you want, but POO still takes walk ins).

It's my impression that you don't need to change your card, just that you need to know the date your PR status started. While at the office, you could ask the officer's opinion on what to do about the date on the card, if it is indeed different from your PR date.
