Is electronic filing slower?

We finally got our interview date in Guangzhou (December 22  ) 582 days after we filed the initial I-130 petition. We didn't have any problems with our filing or RFEs, so I'm wondering why it took more than twice as long for us to get our interview date as it seems to take most other couples. We filed electronically at NVC in March, 2011. My immigration lawyer claims the NVC electronic system is slow and buggy. Has anyone else had problems with electronic filing, or do I just have an inept lawyer?

i guess it all depends on who's driving.

If'n yer lawyer was driving, then yes, I can see the slow down.

Typically, EP with a lawyer on a G-28 (Filed with the I-130) is faster -

why?

cause the AOS Fee Bill and IV Fee Bill show up TOGETHER in the online payment portal,

and

you can be in/out of NVC within 8 business days FROM THE TIME the AOS fee bill is viewable on the online payment portal.

No, I'm not kidding.

So, if you were to analyze each step on the NVC EP path, noting the dates - where's the lags, and who was driving at the time?

Congrats on receiving the interview date and good luck! I had no issues with electronic processing. My opinion is your lawyer is very unfamiliar with how EP works and used the "slow and buggy" claim as a cover excuse.

Make sure your well prepared for the interview don't need any more delays. It took me 18 months to get my interview. My lawyer caused more delays. I was on top of it and kept calling myself to see what was going on. Lucky I did as they never received any of the papers he mailed to the NVC. That added 3 months. I had to convince him to do EP.

We filed electronically at NVC in March, 2011 then you should have been finished at NVC in March.

If these two dates are accurate from yer profile:

Pay IV Bill :2011-01-18

Case Completed at NVC : 2011-11-22

Then I'd be calling NVC to inquire what happened.

That's 10 months at NVC. no one does that.
