Melding Thanksgiving traditions

Since Thanksgiving isn't celebrated in Nicaragua, I just go along with the way it's celebrated here. We went by my in-laws and ate all the traditional (and really tasty!) stuff. For Christmas, if we're here in the US we go to mass on Christmas Eve and go to bed early. Christmas day we get up early and go by his parents' house to exchange gifts and have an early Christmas dinner.

But this Christmas we're going to be in Nicaragua and I honestly can't wait! The way we celebrate it is by having dinner really late (sometimes after midnight) on Christmas Eve and exchanging gifts at that time. Sure, we have drinks, play games and dance, etc. We don't get wasted but we surely have a good time with all aunts, uncles, cousins, etc. Oh, and we do go to mass too, it's usually between 8 and 9pm.
