Deli, this is a bit messed up. When you bring/turn in your 2010 tax return, submit evidence to the questions he answered "wrong" with a letter explaining it all. Like it was said before:

- find an article in the paper referring to the hospital as SUNY.

- get a copy of the hospital records for yourself and your child

submit this with an explanation of which question was asked - why your husband answered the way he did and the evidence.

With the other questions - I don't know what to tell you. My husband had a few strokes even he remembers trivial things like street address, my parents names and suck. You sure your husband doesn't have a medical condition? Maybe he has an issue in 'testing'- environments - find an explanation as to why he does not remember stuff.

All done ;-)

I think you were both overconfident perhaps because you are actually married and didn't think too hard about the process.

My Hubby knows my mothers name because its the same as his cousins but if that was not the case he may not recall because she passed away before I met him. I refer to her as my mother not her first name and he obviously has never spoken to her so would he remember? He knows my fathers first name because he thinks its funny but refers to him as Mr. ######. I don't even know my grandma's first name. I mean her name is 'grandma.' I asked a family member to remind me and I then of course I remembered but if I was quizzed.. Yeesh..

Nick names for places and hospitals are common, details on official documents also may have mistakes. My middle name on my SS # is severely misspelled - almost another name. I've had it for 10 years and have not changed it (who wants to go to a SS office unless you have to). Overseas if you are used to filling out your birthday with day/month/year you could forget and have some of you initial docs with incorrect birth dates.

Sure the list of egs could go on and on. The thing is (and someone else mentioned this) you should have brought all these things to the IO's attention before she felt like she was catching you with your pants down.... :bonk:

Good thing is this is not irreversible. Do what they ask for and if your have to do another interview just go prepared...

I do have a question though..

What was your initial offering of docs and what did you bring with you to the interview? Also, you said you submitted in January. Why so long before you got your interview? Any unusual reasons?

Why did you wait so long to file?

What was he doing during all that time?

i would prepare for a stokes and quiz each other every day with questions that can be found online. you need to memorize everything about each other. yet it is possible that married couples can forget things here and there but for these interviews you MUST know everything. Since you started out on the wrong foot you need to make a full recovery.

We brought all of the documents requested in the letter telling us of our interview which included:

1) both birth certificates

2) marriage certificate (certified)

3) baby's birth certificate

4) I-94

5) passports

6) pictures showing us together (our fault here...we only brought one of our wedding day which is so obvious in hindsight, but all of our pictures are digital...we will be sure to print some up to submit to him along with the additional info he asked for)

7) an old lease from 2009 with both of our names on it

8) a statement from my old dental plan showing he had some work done. this by the way showed him as a dependent and the IO was still suspicious since my dental plan was with metlife and my health insurance was with HIP, as he asked if my husband still had his insurance card which he did in fact have since I told him to keep it for this specific reason

9) we initially were going to file for aos in 2008 so we had the old I-693 form completed by a civil surgeon (he even exclaimed that it was a good piece of evidence)

Our initial interview was scheduled for 9/21/2011, however, I was pregnant at the time and ended up in the hospital for three weeks so I had to call and reschedule. I also think the wait time when filing for NY residents is longer than other states.

I'm glad to here that at least one other person doesn't remember every first, middle, and last name of every one of their spouse's relatives.

We have already gathered a lot of evidence that will support our answers in the first interview. For example, I found a letter from the hospital which goes by both names...the one we referred to it as and the one listed on our baby's birth certificate. So we are already preparing for a possible second interview.

I'm a little surprised the IO would make a big deal about this. I've had perhaps a dozen different jobs in my life, and I've always had medical and dental insurance provided by my employer. With the exception of a time when I had an HMO plan that covered everything, my employers have always use different insurance providers for medical and dental insurance. In fact, I've got Met Life for dental now and Blue Cross for medical. If this is typical for me then I figure it's probably typical for a lot of other people, so I don't know why the IO would think it's unusual.

12/15/2009 - K1 Visa Interview - APPROVED!

12/29/2009 - Married in Oakland, CA!

08/18/2010 - AOS Interview - APPROVED!

05/01/2013 - Removal of Conditions - APPROVED!

That's great! Were you able to get proof that the child's birth cert was wrong as well?

Yes. That's funny also because they gave us a congratulations card on 8x11 paper which list the hospital the way we referred to it in the interview, her footprints, and the time as 11:33pm not am like the birth certificate reads. The main reason we didnt correct her birth certificate is because we applied for dual citizenship for and we really needed her birth certificate to do that as you only have 40 days from birth to complete a dual citizenship at the French Consulate. Which by the way we received two days ago and we are now considered a legitimate family in France...now if we can just get this IO to believe us it would be great.

Believe me, I was surprised that he questioned that too. He even went as far as to ask my husband what dental work he had performed on that day. It was in 2008. Of course my husband looks at me and says, I don't remember and then said carie which is cavity in french. So he wanted to say he had a cavity filled (which he was not 100% sure of by the way since he had some other things done on his teeth back then). Of course he looks at me and asked how do you say carie and the IO immediately jumps in and says don't ak her. Honestly this guy went a bit to far I think...who remembers what they had done at the dentist over three years ago especially if it wasn't major surgery?

That's great too! If I were you I would show him the French registration thing and also the rules about the deadline (to explain why you haven't had it fixed yet) and I would also start the process of fixing it and show him proof of that.

I think you're well on the way of explaining some of the answers he thought were wrong :D
