Just got a letter saying the FBI could not process Ivys fingerprints and to come back and have them taken again on Nov 29th.

The first time the lady took her fingerprint it took 3 trys to get them and she was not sure if they would be ok. My question is if the Fbi cant process fingerprints after the 2nd time what happens then? Go back for a 3rd time? 4th time?

I work in law enforcement, though I must stress that my field (fraud investigation) is obviously not immigration. Whether USCIS follow the same procedure, I don't know.

Anyway, we use FBI finger-print checks and occasionally find this problem - some people just don't have fingers that produce prints that are of sufficient quality to be read. In such circumstances, the FBI will seek up to two further finger-print cards, but no more than that. After that, they do a (more labour intensive and expensive) database search using names, aliases, date of birth, place of birth, SSN etc.

It's not ideal, but sometimes it's the only option.

Fingerprints of some individuals don't show up well on Live Scan scanners for a number of reasons. The imaged fingertips may be too oily or dry, or the hand may be dirty or simply shaped in such a way at the tips that air gaps are created, causing degradation of the image quality. When you go back ask for a manual ink prints to be done as well.

I believe it's 2 times then you need to get police clearance certificates.

Get some new fingers --just kidding  I am pretty sure they will be able to extract a set of prints the next time .
