Hi,

Thanks to everyone who has taking time to enlighten others on their immigration progress...the information I got from here helped me anticipate a lot of the steps and shortened the process for my mom's IR-5 petition.

I am in the final stages of NVC processing...abt to mail out DS-230(once police report arrives; in the mail right now)

I know as a USC, I can petition for my unmarried siblings but then if my mom petiitons for them,, it will be faster by a couple of years. The thing is, if they get married while she is still an LPR, the petition becomes void and I am not sure what happens after that but if I file for them now,, not only does it take longer but I understand that they may be denied any application for tourist visa...any experiences out there?

Do they have Tourist Visa's.

You can petition for siblings married or not. It will take about 10 years if the line stays constant and the laws don't change. Your mother once she is an LPR can petition for children(under 21) or UNMARRIED adult chld. If an unmarried adult becomes married the petition is dead. With siblings it doesn't matter if they are married. Unmarried son/daughters of LPR's are about 8 years of waiting ( not much difference if you file now) Chldren of Lpr are only about a 3 year wait

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

Sorry if i may ask did your mum file for your siblings and how long did it take?

No ....I guess I ama TYPE A personality and like to plan for things ahead. my mom's IR-5 is nearing closing so I am wondering do I put in for my silings in the next few weeks once her NVC closes her case and she gets a visa or shd I wait for her to come in and put in for them after her green card....but then if they marry then what happens?

Do they have Tourist Visa's.

no. my immediate younger sister is thinking of applying for one in the next couple of months and I am thinking if they see there is an open immigrant petition for her , they may deny her...

Thanks!!!!! I guess if i put in now or within the next few weeks...it covers the months it will take for her to get a visa and hence shorten the two year difference between my petition for them or her petitioning. :)

I am not sure if you understand the process.

o yes I do understand the process( been studying it since 2004)...i was just torn between filing for my siblings now as a USC or waiting for my mom to get her GC in the coming months and then put in for them ( since her petition will have roughly a 2year advantage). I guess i was looking for someone to validate my decision :)

You are assuming it is an either/or, it isn't.
