What is it that he does not like? The texture? Consistency? Flavor? Spiciness? See what you narrow it down to and eliminate those factors. Then work with what you both like and hopefully you will only make minor adjustments after that.

Or stick it all in a blender and have enchilada shakes.

He wants everything fresh, fresh meat, veggies, especially bread. I do make my market grocery shopping weekly, i think this is the problem for him it's old already since he is used to walk and buy the daily food for cooking that same day. Unfortunately here we go to work get off tired something we just eat whatever. Also they use lots spices in Morocco for the food. LOl he didn't like the cheese enchiladas and i didn't make them spicy either.

You know, i think id probably be that person Very picky...making comments in my face saying omg i can't eat this. But! .... these VJrs are right. I would've known that moving to a completely different place would mean changing eating habits. I honestly didn't have that much problems. We were able to find stores that sold peruvian foods and stuff. And we can even find recipes online! Be patient and don't freak out. Once he starts getting hungry he will try it just make sure its not McDonalds...haha. But not, don't worry about it. Everyone needs time to adjust. In the mean time, let him know. I can imagine you probably feel hurt with all the faces he makes. Tell him to please be a little considerate of the hard work you're putting for him to enjoy time with you. Someone already suggested and trust me it will probably be a good idea....look for places where you can find moroccan foods..spices...etc...do research online.. Teach yourself! And as for your daughter you can do this

You can tell her he's going to try something if she tries something too. Sorr if the idea is lame...but that what Id do. Trying new things...especiall in a different culture could be pretty interesting. Might not like it, but at least you can say you tried!!! I remember I always said no to sushi i never even ate it. My friend took me to eat it, and i put a big chunk of a california roll in my mouth...and ended up not liking it. Instead of making faces in front of the chef looking at me and my friend laughing at me....I swallowed it and said......ok I tried it....didnt like it. LOL but now I know!!!

Go to Cost Plus World Market and get Ras El Hanout (a Moroccan Spice). They cook a lot with cumin, black pepper, and cayenne pepper or paprika. Also, try maybe to get organic chicken, rather than the chicken from Safeway. See if you can find some good olives, not Spanish with the pimentos. Buy bread at Panera! Fry a bit of onions, olive oil, garlic, cumin, cayenne pepper, black pepper and bit of salt, and then put it in the crock pot with chicken, potatoes, carrots and let it simmer all day. Perhaps you can find a shop, where they can mix you up a bunch of spices to have on hand.

oh ya the freshest veggies & meats etc is great.

Especially homemade bread

Could always go with making bread daily have him do it. Gets a little expensive but truly worth it.

fresh meat & veggies give him daily allowance to go buy it & then have him prepare it.

Walking to a store & buying daily is not as bad as driving to the store.

If he is willing to do these things it would be cool.

but sadly have to get him use to the budget & money here and how its cheaper buying in bulk.

take and spend a day driving him to grocery stores etc. and have him write down the product & price

then have him calculate the best ways to do it

My wife thought things in usa is simple until I taught her more and more such as budgeting spending etc.

She now thinks differently.

Hopefully he will catch on and learn the differences of it.

Oh ya have him start a garden :P that way there is fresh veggies. Hint Hint

That's exactly what i told him. He says for me to cook what i usually do, if he don;'t like he will just cook his own food. How am i suppose to feel when he says this. I'm also thinking of Thanks giving and Christmas i really hope he enjoys the food.

You are missing the big picture: you now have someone that cooks for all

Outside of that, Moroccan food is quite good and adjusting goes both ways.

I'm going to have this problem soon. My fiance is VERY picky about food. He likes American food (yay!), Thai food (can't cook it at all), and Japanese food (that is really freaking hard!). The problem is that I know mostly how to cook Filipino food...and he happens to not like it. He says it's too bland.

Currently.... they have issued Ice the incorrect GC and we have tried 4 times to fix it. First time they had us send it to the incorrect address. Second time they said we used an expired form, which was the form they gave us. Third time was "oh sorry we lost the last page, can you send it again?." Fourth time is the gov is shut down. Will this ever be corrected in time for Ice to get the permanent GC? Stay tuned to find out. T_T

some filipino foods are bland just takes a little spicing up.

use some peppers or jalapenos to spice them up.

some like thai enjoy spicy Not vinegar spicy but hot spicy.

Takes time to adjust & learn each others food.

american restaurants are truly bland for me I hate it.

Steak seasoning consisting of pepper seasalt & some other ingredients gets used to most all my food also soy & vinager or coconut vinager hehe

enhance the flavors & spice it up always works.

I am in the same boat as you, even though my fiancé and I are from same ethnic background I prefer American food and when I make American food he doesn't like it. When I make our ethnic food he says it's not as good as his but he's happy and appreciates that I'm trying. He cooks most of the times because I do work most of the time and he doesn't mind cooking either. I'm just nervous whenever i have to cook. One thing he foes like is McDonald mcchicken and mcdouble.

Hello VJ's,

So, i have a problem with my Fiance. He is Moroccan and I'm Mexican American. He has been complaining about food most of the time. Not only he complains, but also makes faces to most of the food. I understand he misses his Moroccan food, but i feel he should at least taste the food, there have been some occasions where i have to force him to taste it. He says its good but won't eat it. I feel stress and nervous, i have no idea what to cook, because he even complains about food in the restaurants, so I'm thinking to myself if he don't like the good restaurant food of course he will not like my cooking. I really haven't cooked much.I'm afraid he won't like it and makes faces like he has till now then i will really get upset. I guess i thought it was going to be just as normal as it was when i visit him in Morocco. I had no problem eating anything.

Sometimes i just want to :bonk: him. I love him, but sometimes this food problem gets in my head, He says not to stress about it, but grrrrrrrrrrrr!

I would not stress myself about it.... When he gets hungry enough he will eat...... He is not in Morocco anymore... What did he expect?????? He needs to stop being so silly.....
