Hi,

I have no record of my old vaccines...too long ago...so i am having a blood test. Apart from MMR Tetanus and variacella, has there been anything else required for the medical exams in Asutralia? Thanks for your help.

You need blood work to check for RBR and a skin test for TB, you need to hold on to all the papers saying your negative for both and proof of vaccinations.

The vaccination requirements are age-dependant.

Like you, I had no proof of vaccinations, so I had the serology (blood) test done to test for immunity to MMR and varicella. Keep in mind that immunity wears off, even if you have had the vaccinations done before. I had MMR vaccination done at school and my serology showed no immunity to Measles or Mumps, but I was immune to Rubella. If you don't have immunity you will have to have those vaccinations again.

I had my medical in April, and was told by the panel physician prior to the medical exam, to just go ahead and get the Boostrix vaccine again anyway (Tetanus/Diptheria/Acellular Pertussis (whooping cough). I also had to have a flu shot - but this is only required during flu season - so depending on when you have your medical, you may or may not need this done also.

You don't need a TB skin test - that is what the chest x-ray done during the medical, is checking for (unless I guess your chest x-ray comes back with signs of TB, which would require further (perhaps skin?) testing).

Good luck!

No you don't. Australia doesn't do a skin test. We have an xray done as part of the K1 medical.

As KLS said, Boostrix is what they got and what I got too. Acellular pertussis (Whooping cough).

Just ask your doc for a blood titre. You'll need tdap, MMR, and varicella (chicken pox). Here is the vaccination list. http://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/recs/schedules/downloads/adult/mmwr-adult-schedule.pdf See the first table on page 2 (ignore HPV and Zoster as they're not required for immigration anymore)

Thanks for the answers...I appreciate the information.

Thought I'd get this done now before the medical. The Dr down here (tasmania) won't let you book for a med without a case number, so I want as much done as I can beforehand.

Praying your journeys are smooth...
