I saw my husband doing the dishes the other day. I took a picture of it - I thought there was a bigger chance to see a Yeti, than to see my husband doing the dishes.

(our dishwasher broke down too recently :()

I never eat fast food. I can't remember the last time I was in McDonald's or BK. I never call out either even though I like pizza. Besides health reasons, it gets expensive. If I eat out now I try to find the good but cheap ethic restaurants. There's some great one's that beat Mickey D prices.

As for dishwashing ...one tactic is paper plates and the other is clean the dishes as soon as I use them. My nature is to pile the dishes up until later but I'm trying hard to stick with the program. Ultimately, I'll buy a new dishwasher but I just dropped some large change on bathroom plumbing and tile/sheetrock repairs from the plumbers mess.

it gets expensive.

Preparing meals for one is just as expensive, especially when you factor in your time.

I actually eat very simply. I rarely eat meat or even chicken unless it's from a can.. My eating habits have changed from health issues, but even with that, I just don't need big heavy meals these days. I used to eat out a lot but that's rare now. My only luxury is going to Starbucks EVERY DAY to get my $3.10 bar drink. I've been going to the same Starbucks since around 1993. They know me by name. I get great treatment and I know the old crew there and shoot the breeze sometimes.

BTW gun lovers, the anti-gun crew is planning to boycott Starbucks on Valentines Day because Starbucks refuses to put up ?No Guns" signs. So...be sure and go to Starbucks on VD and buy something big so they show a big increase for that day. Let's support Starbucks as they support the 2nd Amendment.

Do businesses put up "no guns" signs there? Really? The only place I see those here are government buildings and courthouses, NEVER on a private business.

I've never seen such a sign here. This Starbucks deal is nationwide so I'm sure there are places like restaurants and shops with these "no guns" signs in plenty of towns.

BTW, I live in an "open carry" state. I've never tried it for several reasons... but I'm tempted on VD at Starbucks.

Yeah but your state has CC also right? I am not a fan of open carry at all. I would never do it. For one thing if a bad guy is casing the joint I do not want him to pick me as the guy to get a bullet in the back of the head before he robs the cashier, and another is that it simply does nothing to reduce crime if the bad guys KNOW who has guns. NOT KNOWING where the guns are is the deterent, why do you think they hid the ICBMs in submarines and movable underground tracks so no one knew which silo they were in? Hmmm.

Vermont actually has no regulation on this, we can carry openly or concealed. I almost never see anyone carrying openly except when hunting, occasionally you see a pistol butt sticking out of someone's pocket, but usually no sign of guns. I assure you, they are there.

As for dishwashing ...one tactic is paper plates
Thanks for the reminder of this tactic, si man. Before I was married for the FIRST time, I'd use the same Chinet plate (thick paper, like cardboard) over & over until it became too gross to use, or (more likely) when it finally got soggy. The first Mrs. T-B.-to-be was flabbergasted that I had no dishes, but I helpfully explained the system to her. That didn't cut the mustard, along with anything else relating to my life or existence, no man.

One can eat just fine out of cans, boxes, and pouches, burp man. However, it's typically better if a wife-type person has something on the table when one comes home, si man, which perhaps makes wash-dishing a little more palatable, maybe man.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

We were in Costco yesterday and I invariably go for the sample-giver-outer people, Alla hates that sh*t! "Alichka! Idi sudah! Look, REAL natural Chinese potstickers in a BOX! Frozen! mmmmmmmm Tasty"

Yesterday they had some sort of chick pea gruel IN A POUCH! Heat up the pouch and all! Peel off the top and eat! Yummy!

I had the sample as Alla looked on disapprovingly...

"And Alla, it is IN A POUCH!"

Vooowhat?

"A pouch"

Vooowhat is it?

"Look, a POUCH!"

You cook it in that?

"Yes! No more dishes, we can get rid.....Alla, come back, Alla, it is in a pouch!"

I put on makeup and wore heels for this????!!!! (now laughing)

"You lucky girl!"

My other tactic is "immediate action" and this one goes against man's nature...use it and immediately clean it. Rapid deployment man! Nothing is hard to clean if you wash it right away...well most things anyway. I'm slowly reprogramming my brain to wash the non paper stuff right away. Another tactic is using foil. Cover stuff with foil...cook...toss the foil...underneath stuff is clean. I think everyone else already knew this but me...slow man.

Already on it. Any excuse to go to Starbucks is a good one.

Do businesses put up "no guns" signs there? Really? The only place I see those here are government buildings and courthouses, NEVER on a private business.

We have them all over the place. They're referred to as "Gun Buster" signs that designate "Criminal Protection Zones" where it's safe for criminals to operate because law-abiding citizens are denied their constitutional right to bear arms.

I've never seen such a sign here. This Starbucks deal is nationwide so I'm sure there are places like restaurants and shops with these "no guns" signs in plenty of towns.

I work in a place with gun busters displayed. No guns. Safer for criminals!

Starbucks around here doesn't post. The messed up thing is Ohio is an open carry state and the gun buster signs not only apply to concealed carry but open carry as well. No guns means no guns. (Unless you're the type of person that ignores signs. And laws.)

BTW, I live in an "open carry" state. I've never tried it for several reasons... but I'm tempted on VD at Starbucks.

I open carry (inadvertantly, sometimes) when I meet people from Craigslist to do deals. Something about showing up to a strangers house with several hundred bucks in cash just screams "ROB ME!" but as soon as they see the 1911 they tend to get real friendly, real quick. Changes the entire dynamic of the conversation.

Yeah, it's insane. VA Tech still denies CCW for students and teachers. How many times does someone need to die there before those jackasses wake up? "Gun Free Zone. Come and fire away!"

(Unless you're the type of person that ignores signs. And laws.) Starbucks follows state laws. Even with that, I don't think they post "no guns" signs. Why antagonize customers? Basically, Starbucks is neutral and follows the state rules. I don't think any business is required to post signs.

We're not Costco members, but we accompanied some friends one time. One can indeed procure nearly a full meal, or at least take the edge off one's hunger, by hitting up the out-give-sampling people, burp man. Unassuageable hunger can be vanquished by ordering one of their pizzas, si man, unless waiting for it would cause death by starvation, bye man.

The only samples that I WON'T try are of wine or booze. How the dickens can these supermarket-sample-out-giverrers serve someone a snootful and not potentially incur the wrath of pigs laying radar on the fulsnooter's drive home, huh man?
