There was a time in my younger days when girls were required to take "Home Education" in school. The girls learned how to cook, clean, iron, sew...the womanly arts of a now bygone era. Let's have a moment of silence for that great loss.............. Now we have uneducated home-makers feeding us garbage when we once had daily three-course dinners with home-made desserts. And, somehow, the kitchens were spotless. My kitchen got so bad you needed a city permit to use the trash can!

I think I understand why people have dogs. The dogs clean up all the ####### that hits the floor. We call them "Rover" but we should call them "Hoover."

BTW T-B, whenever I'm feeling down and depressed, I come looking for one of your new posts. After reading your "Hell is my home" sagas, I feel better. I say to myself: "And I thought I had it bad!" Gracias, Amigo! And, hey, I don't need no stinkin Zoloft, man!

I'd rather make money and pay someone to do all that stuff for me. I have better things to do with my time than scrub floors or whatever.

We had home-ec in school but everyone took it.

A "baller" is a rich person. And yes, I would want a housekeeper. Life is short, I hate cleaning, and if I could swing it, I see no reason to do it out of some misguided sense of what women are "supposed" to do. And yes, I know there are some women who would never let another soul clean their floors--my mom is like that--I couldn't care less.

Well, it's not complete hell, no man. Mrs. T-B. is quite a good cook, although it takes (by conservative estimate) approximately 6,998 of our 7,001 kitchen items per meal. This weekend, I had to run three loads of dishes -- a mystery why, given that I don't eat breakfast and we ate one lunch out and another was hot dogs, hot diggity dog man.

And, in regard to darning socks, if they get too holey I say "damn these" and out they go ("oot" if in Canada, si man, eh), si man.

I've actually had outstanding luck buying socks at resale shops, si man. If the socks fit and last well through a couple of washings, I keep them; if not, out they go either in the trash or for redonation, si man.

A "baller" is a rich person.

Really? I thought a "baller" was just, in general, someone who is good at "playing the game," whichever game that may be. Originally the game was basketball, but now it could extend to any sort of social, economic, or political "game." Of course, it can still refer to skill at some physical or athletic competition. It's kind of more of a street term. I would only use it for a rich person if said rich person started out poor and got there "playing the game," as it were.

That is probably the correct entomology, but I've always heard it to simply mean "rich."

Well, the term "balling" used to mean having sexual intercourse. So, a "baller" should mean someone having intercourse. Balling or banging...same same.

The new street slang? OK, whatever...

Take a large, almost round, rotating sphere about 8000 miles in diameter, surround it with a murky, viscous atmosphere of gases mixed with water vapor, tilt its axis so it wobbles back and forth with respect to a source of heat and light, freeze it at both ends and roast it in the middle, cover most of its surface with liquid that constantly feeds vapor into the atmosphere as the sphere tosses billions of gallons up and down to the rhythmic pulling of a captive satellite and the sun. Then try to predict the conditions of that atmosphere over a small area within a 5 mile radius for a period of one to five days in advance!
