Regarding housework, how many of your wives take a bath with their clothes? I do not mean with their clothes ON, I mean WITH their clothes. Alla has some clothes she still washes by hand and when she has a bunch of them she takes them in her arms, walks naked to the tub and tosses them all in and then gets right in there with the clothes and scrubs away. "You can join me if you want" :D

mmmmmmm, no thanks, you and your lingerie have fun together.

She says it is much easier than leaning over the tub to wash the clothes (I can understand that) and better than trying to do them in a separate washtub. She uses just regular bath soap.

I think our new high efficiency machine should be OK for her delicates but she will not use it for them.

They then get hung around our bedroom on curtain rods, closet doorknobs, etc to dry.

No to into the shower with them.

Yes but she now uses the new He washing machine (because she can figure out how to operate it and it is similar to hers back in Moscow).

Yes to hanging all over.

Mrs. T-B. will use the high-efficiency machine to wash even one (delicate) item, I presume on the "quick wash" setting. Why she needs so much stuff with sequins, rhinestones, etc. on it, I'll never fathom, no man. Chicks, sigh man.

In regard to the dryer, she seems to like the "sensing" setting, which is supposed to sense the wetness of the load but which always leaves stuff wet, yuck man. I learned long ago to use the old-fashioned "timed-dry" cycle, wherein one sets the timer for, say, 60 minutes and one knows that after 60 min., one's stuff will be DRY.

Amidst the throes of doing our (ufff) 5 laundry loads this past Sunday, I showed Mrs. T-B. the lint-trap, and tried to explain the importance of keeping it clean after every load. She responded with a blank stare, sigh man.

I wash everything in the washing machine, dry everything in the dryer. I just divide the clothes by colour and fabric.
This is so logical that it's sick, si man, sick! :P Edited by TBoneTX

I think "high efficiency" means low cleaning. In my condo building we had some washers (we have a community laundry room) that did standard cycle for 45 minutes or so. A few years ago they installed new machines that do a standard cycle in 25 minutes. WHAT? Being retired my clothes don't get very dirty as a rule...so I can't judge the cleaning ability of these new quickie washers...but 20 minutes less?

What? People still did it in XX century? I thought it was old medieval stuff... I only saw it in some movies.

My wife doesn't take them into the bath anymore. She tries to keep them separate to handwash and then, because she's too busy to do so, she throws them in the machine. "But not whis your nasty, greasy, smelly clothes. Only whis my nice and clean clothes."

Ours is 32 minutes and it takes the mud off my Appleseed clothes, the grease and grime off my work clothes, and the funk outta my boxer drawers! That machine is a beast!

I think it has to do with the agitation and spin cycles. These new washers are a lot more powerful than the old ones.

The new HE machine we have takes longer to wash actually, 51 minutes for regular and 1 hour 20 minutes for whites, no agitator, it just tumbles the clothes is a water/detergent solution. Then it has like a turbo jet spin cycle and the clothes come out almost dry! The dryer dries them in about 20 minutes.

It does a much better job than the old Kenmore and more quiet. It is much more gentle on the clothes, in fact I do not see how it could possibly hurt anything, but she does what she does. I cannot see any difference in our water bill, which is pretty cheap anyway but it DID save on the electric bill as the dryer runs half the time now.

My MIL's been here over a week.

I don't think she's stopped cleaning. She's awesome! Doing dishes right now because she just finished cooking me supper and doing my laundry. (And the kicker is... my wife is at work! A cold beer in my hand... life is good today.)
