Oh god the potatoes. How could I forget about them. Like almost every night. I fry them with onions now so I don't have to eat them boiled. I mean how many boiled potatoes can someone eat?

I only boil it when I want some mashed potatoes.

I fry them with onions and mushrooms - yummy! I bake them a lot + there are recipes that have potatoes in them. Our favourite is: a layer of onions (with salt, black pepper and oil), a layer of meat (we use anything from ground beef to pork), a layer of sliced potatoes, mozzarella cheese and mayo on top - bake for about an hour in the oven... OMG, it's soooooo good! Maybe not that healthy, but delicious.

I'm going to make that this weekend (w/ground pork). That looks killer! B-)

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

I never imagined Russian food as healthy. Natural, yes, but not healthy.

Alla loves potatoes (of course) and buys several different kinds. "For frying" "for boiling" she even eats them raw! When we go for hikes to go fishing and skinny dipping she brings a bag with fruit and raw potatoes.

The recipe you mention she also makes. Sort of. Sliced potatoes in a casserole pan with lots of onions, pieces of meat layered in, and smothered with cheese. Really good. She will cook a big pan of this, along with making potatoe/meat salad, meatballs, etc. and fill the refrigerator with this along with a big pot of borscht and we are good to go for several days.

Yep, same here. Sometimes cubed chicken breast or tenderized pork loin steaks. On a cold winter day, very nice.

Pasha cleans up the vomit. Wait until mini-T is a teenager. Until then you two fight it out. You probably should not have animals if you do not have teenagers to feed them and clean up after them :P

Hard to believe that little Mini-Bone will be a year old in less than a month, whee man...

Daffodil the Cat has an electronic litterbox (thank you, God), but she often barfs even when specifically instructed not to.

Our grandson is almost three now. (and another is 6 months) He always has to show me what the "new" thing he can do is. "Let me guess, it involves running"

About three weeks after mini-T takes his first step away from the coffee table, he will start running. He will not stop until he is about 30.

that makes me smile :) We have a little niece (my sister-in-law's baby), she'll be 2 in March. We all speak her language too: "boom-boom", "bad-bad!", "ugh you" (love you) etc. She says the whole sentences too, but there is no way I can understand that - toddler's English seems like a whole new language to me

Well, the little stinker (the cat) barfed on my computer chair tonight, and fortunately the leavings were semi-turgid, leading to easy disposal.

The cat-barf on the stairs has been there for several days; you can place bets on my eventually losing this current stalemate, sigh man.

About three weeks after mini-T takes his first step away from the coffee table, he will start running. He will not stop until he is about 30.
Mini-Bone is beginning to walk (after a fashion) and seems to view it as great fun. He's taken as many as 8 steps, si man.

---

ETA: A cop on the beat sees a drunk, who's walking with one foot on the curb and the other in the gutter. The drunk is weeping bitterly.

"Here now, my good man," said the cop good-naturedly, "wouldn't it be easier to walk if you had both feet on the sidewalk?"

"Oh, thank you, Ossifer!" said the drunk, brightening visibly. "I thought I was crippled!"

Wait until mini-T starts crashing into everything and bashing his head on tables, doors etc. Then you have to go in public and everyone looks at you like... Get him a helmet with face cage for the next 3-6 months.
