Dear VJers,

I am highly disturbed and depressed for not hearing from the U.S. Embassy for the Interview appointment since I submitted all the required documents on the 30th Oct.,2011. I mailed them after 3days and they replied that they had received the documents....

And I just read from the Checklist that " DO NOT CALL US FOR INTERVIEW APPOINTMENT". It was boldly written. Can I mail the Embassy or what should I do because I don't know why I have not been contacted after 3weeks of submitted. :help: :help: :help:

Thanks

Calling wont hurt them, if you may ask them like - you are wondering, what is the normal expected time to get the appointment date from the date doc has been received by them? Just ask it as normal date. It should be fine then. They wouldnt mind it either ( I guess ).

It's okay to call NVC for any updates. I found that they were very helpful. A lot of VJers were able to obtain their interview date by calling NVC - before receiving the interview letter.

Really ?

I will be happy if NVC could provide me the date because I thought I don't have anything to do with NVC again since my papers are now with the Embassy.

Thanks

Ok, but I am afraid may be the Embassy would be angry by asking for the date or it will look suspicious... what do you think ?

Thanks

It won;t look suspicious, but it can often take longer than the time that has elapsed in your case. Personally, I would wait until next week (ie after Thanksgiving- they may have a lot of staff out this week for the holiday), and then call.

I have spent a lot of years working with government at all levels, here and in foreign countries. November and December combined equal, maybe, ONE month of productivity. Especially in Christian countries. Consulates are closed for both US and the host country holidays and many countries take long holidays for the Christmas/New Year holidays.

It generally takes longer to get an appointment in consulates which use the method you describe. Ask in the regional forum among people that have used your consulate (you do not list which one it is) In our case, getting the appointment took 50% longer than we waited for the NOA2.
