The problem that I am having is that I know that people on this website just voice their opinion; however their are some people who have actually gone through the process and because of their experience they share it with others which whom may benefit from it. What gets me as for the people that gives off information like they just know what they are talking about and don't know nothing and wants to override the facts. Which sometimes maybe insulting to ones faith. It is a difference from fact and opinion. The one's with opinion wants to act like they lived it. I saw a member almost destroy another members faith when someone with experience tried to build his faith that is not fair. Its okay to voice your opinion ,but don't get it twisted with the truth.

I understand what you're saying. I think part of it is because most people here on Visa Journey just want to be able to help. Sometimes, especially if they are new to the immigration process themselves or are only familiar with one or two aspects of the process, they mistakenly share what they 'believe' to be true, unaware that it is false and may cause others some worry or distress. I don't think there are very many here who deliberately offer mis-information, just that in some cases while the intentions are well-meaning, the information isn't right.

That is why we always encourage everyone to do a lot of reading and research on their own. Don't just take someone's word for it - go directly to the source information such as the USCIS website or the Consulate's websites. Just because you read it here doesn't mean that it is the gospel truth. Immigration isn't a one size fits all, so while we can all share our personal experiences, what works for one person may not work for another and what is true at one Consulate may not be true at another. That being said, it is still important to listen to what the other people's experiences are because they can give you insight into what to expect for yourself.

It is useful for all of us to remember that when we offer advice we should take care that we post only what we know to be true and not a rumour or a supposition or a belief. This process is already harrowing and nerve-wracking enough - we don't need to add to anyone else's problems by passing on mis-information or hearsay. It is great to post from your own experience as that can provide useful information. It is great to post links to the actual source information as that can be useful. It is great to offer advice along with the reminder that this is what you have found works in your situation but be ready to understand that the circumstances of the other person may be different and their experience may differ from yours.

One of the best ways to determine how useful someone else's information is, is to look at their profile information. If they have been on Visa Journey for a while and have gone through or are going through the various immigration processes and they have a lot of posts where others have agreed with their information, then they are probably a good source of useful information for you as well. If they are a newcomer or have not gone through the same immigration process you are going through, you may wish to consider their advice more carefully - they may or may not have enough background information to give you the correct information. You will also notice over on the lower right hand side of each post a number. Often, you will see a higher number listed if people have approved of that post so that information may be more trustworthy than others.

Still, when all is said and done, Visa Journey is only really another tool in your toolbox for negotiating US immigration. It can be a very helpful tool, but you should still do the work yourself by investigating the advice that is offered and becoming familiar with all of the forms, instructions and processes that are available on the USCIS website. You can then ask here for clarification and feel comfortable about the decision that you yourself can then make.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

The majority of responses to immigration questions are spot-on.

The majority of responses to "personal dilemmas" are not always so appropriate. That said, I don't think asking an immigration forum for solutions to personal problems is appropriate either. I for one wouldn't ask for advice about my relationship on here because the only people who truly know their relationship/beliefs are the people involved.

If you don't want to open yourself up for a variety of stand-points why would you bother asking?

Can you offer an example? I'm not entirely sure I understand what you're trying to say.
